BSPA OFFICIAL STATEMENT Saturday September 03, 2011THE British Speedway Promoters' Association is aware of critical statements made by Coventry Speedway recently. The Association is disappointed that Coventry have chosen to go down this route rather than use the mechanisms in place for the pursuit of grievances. We have no intention of making any public comment on Coventry's accusations but instead have referred the matter to the Speedway Control Bureau. Just had a look at the SCB website, which basically mirrors the BSPA site, why? However, looking at the list of officers theres not a lot of clout there so what is the point! Poole just dodging the issue as usual.

CLUB STATEMENT Wednesday September 14, 2011 beesweb Yesterday we went to meet with the Chairman and BSPA Management Committee to discuss the recent events surrounding the line up of our team and the consequences of the decisions taken by them. We do not agree with the version of events that was presented to us, we were not happy with the decisions that were taken and we still find the entire situation as totally unacceptable however we have decided to draw a line under the matter. We have not reached the play off’s which is a disappointment to all of us and made harder to accept as this was due to off the track influences rather than on track performance. Our team had some bad luck this year however we had great attendances, a roller coaster of season and some World Class additions to our team. We would like to thank all our fans for the huge support you have given us, our growing list of sponsors and of course the riders both in the full squad and those that helped us sometimes at short notice. I would like to congratulate all the teams who have made the play off’s including Poole but in particular I would like to single out Kings Lynn who managed to reach the upper level in its first Elite League season. (Jeez that must have hurt ) Avtar Sandhu

So much for drawing a line BEES FOR SALE - CONTACT DETAILSWednesday September 21, 2011 It is with great regret that Coventry Speedway wish to announce that they will not be operating speedway in 2012 under the current management. Coventry Racing Club cannot condone the manner in which the sport is run and as a result it feels that it is in the best interests of all parties if the club seeks a new owner to take Coventry Speedway forward into the future. The club now invites interested parties on a full acquisition of Coventry speedway or a season by season lease to contact Allen Trump or Jeremy Heaver at info@coventrybees.co to take the matter further. beesweb

although you could be right about the sabre rattling. and here's a bit more: GP Challenge winner Antonio Lindback is pondering a return to the British Elite League for 2012, but admits the current fixture list is still too crowded for his liking. The Rio Rocket has not raced regularly in the UK since his stint with the Belle Vue Aces in 2007. He remains a Poole Pirates asset after spending four seasons at Wimborne Road from 2003 to 2006, which saw him win two Elite League titles, two Knockout Cups and a British League Cup. Lindback currently races in the Swedish Elitserien and has led Indianerna into this year’s play-off final. He also represents Rybnik in the Polish First Division and Outrup in the Danish Super League. The 26-year-old has considered taking on more meetings in a bid to improve his sharpness in the Grand Prix series and believes Britain could hold the solution. (he either can fulfil the fixture or he can't, the EL is not a personal trainer for the GP tarts : But with Elite League clubs currently racing 28 meetings a season, plus Knockout Cup ties, play-offs and challenge matches, Lindback admits the schedule might prove too much. Lindback said: "I don't think the British league is bad. I just think it's too many meetings and it kills you if you do speedway in Poland, Sweden, Britain and the Grand Prix. I think it would be too much, but that's my opinion. (well don't bloody do it then : Here we go with the the main point : "I think the British league needs to drop a few meetings or maybe get a squad system because I think more riders would go there in the future."
Asked whether the fixture list had definitely put him off a return for 2012, Lindback replied: "No, I'm still thinking about going back into the Elite League. I just want to finish this season and then I can plan for the next one."
If Lindback does make a UK comeback, he admits a place with the Pirates would be top of his wish list.
He said: "That is like a second home for me and I was there for a few years. I will see, but I have good memories of Poole."sgp

Coventry owner Avtar Sandhu says communication has broken down between the BSPA and Bees management, and admits this has prompted him to put the team on the market. There has been a fraught working relationship between the Brandon outfit and British speedway's governing body since the Bees and Peterborough walked out of the BSPA's annual meeting in Bournemouth last November. This was following a major dispute over rules put forward by rival promoters, which the Bees and Panthers felt unfairly disadvantaged them. The two sides only agreed terms to race in this year's Elite League in April, by which point the season had already started. But tensions flared again last month when the Bees were refused permission to re-sign Danish rider Peter Kildemand just days after dropping him out of their one to seven. Sandhu admits the club's management can no longer work with the current BSPA regime. In a statement on the club's official website, he said: "I have had a fantastic time owning the Coventry Bees. It has become an all-consuming passion to do what is best for the club and that will continue long after my decision to sell or lease the promoting rights. "The simple truth is that I can no longer work with the administrators at the BSPA as communication has broken down and this has made the running of the club almost impossible to do. "For this reason, I felt it is in the best interests of all parties if the club seeks a new promoter/owner to take Coventry forward into the future. "Coventry needs and deserves an owner who will continue to strive for trophies and league championships, which needs good communication and relationships to be in place. "With no prospect of these improving, my focus has turned to finding the right person or persons to make that happen, so that I can start to enjoy watching the Bees, rather than being filled with dread as to what others will do next." Sandhu confirmed he had no intention of closing Brandon's gates to speedway bikes and says he has received approaches for the Coventry licence. But he pledged to find the right buyer to ensure the Bees remain a force in the sport. He added: "As far as I am concerned, all the talk of the club closing its doors to speedway is not correct. All I wish to do is sell the club so it can continue to grow and prosper. "In fact the statement has been made now is to give the maximum amount of time for potential buyers to come forward and to stop speculation about what I may or may not do with the team. "We have received several enquires already and, rest assured, these will be looked at in detail to see if they are suitable to own the club over and above commercial concerns, as the club needs a passionate owner if it is to keep lifting trophies. "Please continue to keep the faith. You should know after all this time that I will do the best I can for the club. I, like you, want to watch speedway at Coventry Stadium next year, but as a fan rather than owner."

I can't see the vocal minority influencing things so until you can show that it's a majority view then I suspect it'll be same as. The bank balance, press we get and trophy cabinet will show whether you were right

Speedway can be a very funny sport, ruthless at times ie in a Nicki Pedersen style sacking way but too soft at other times. Trev is speedways equivalent of Gary Johnson, effing clueless
