Here's the little beauty TAPES-UP: Hans urges Robins to 'do what it takes' to win the title 6:00am Monday 2nd September 2013 in Speedway By Andy Warren SWINDON skipper Hans Andersen has insisted the Robins need to do what is best for them when they host play-off chasing Lakeside in their final Elite League meeting a week today. The champions secured their spot in the play-offs with a 50-43 victory over Poole at Blunsdon on Thursday night, but there is still a battle for fourth place as the Pirates and the Hammers do battle for the one remaining spot. The two teams meet tonight in a vital meeting at Wimborne Road which will have a major say in the final standings, but if Lakeside are able to take any points from their visit to Wiltshire next week they are likely to seal their spot regardless of the outcome. Andersen believes the meeting is the perfect chance for the Robins riders to test their equipment ahead of their play-off challenge, and also hinted his side may consider their options ahead of the final meeting depending on who they would rather face in the post season. “We wouldn’t be in the position we are in now if we had been bad all season, and obviously there have been various things which have been going on which people know about,” he said. “We’ve had some injuries, but now we have a full side everyone wants to go out there and do their best which we showed on the track against Poole. “I think now we have a part to play in the final meeting about who we want to see in the play-offs, and if things go the way they might go we could decide who gets fourth place or not whether we win or lose the final meeting. “If it suited our team we have to do what’s best for us, we don’t think about other teams, so if it suits us better we have to do what we have to do to retain our title. “Now our play-off spot is assured I will say to the team if they have engines or anything they need to test out that this is the best time to do it because we can make sure it’s all right for the play-offs. “There’s no better test to do things like that than in a proper meeting, and it’s good to have that chance maybe against Lakeside.swindon adver

Of course I should have qualified that by saying do you agree (not you personally, just anyone reading - some may be ok with it?) Personally I'd ban Andersen for the next 3 home matches with no facility & Henning Bager available!

I can well remember the stink caused by Swindon and Peterboroughs complaint a few years back when Poole threw races at Blunsdon and Alwalton with the sole intention of manipulating averages in order to get Hans in there team. I am also aware that Rick Frost personally ensured Andersen got a significant amount of money owed by Colin Horton when Rick took over the club. Not one of his better interviews.

If this is true Swindon should be thrown out , but of course BSPA will do nothing. Calling Rosco, Hans messed up, calling Rosco SWINDON Robins team manager Alun Rossiter has reassured the speedway public his side will be racing to win in their final regular season fixture against Lakeside. The meeting against the Hammers is currently scheduled for Monday night alongside Poole’s vital visit to Belle Vue, with the outcome of the two meetings set to decide which team finishes fourth and joins the Robins in the play-offs. Depending on the result of their trip to King’s Lynn this evening Lakeside are likely to need at least a point from their visit to Blunsdon, while a four-point victory for the Pirates at Kirkmanshulme Lane would put the Wimborne Road club in pole position. With that in mind Swindon captain Hans Andersen suggested in Monday’s Advertiser that his side could consider their options depending on who they would rather face in the play-offs, but Rossiter insisted that is not the case and that his side would be giving their all to win.“We will be coming out 100 per cent to win the match, nothing more, nothing less,” he said.“Maybe a few of the riders will try new engines or other bits like that but I can’t stop them from doing that because it’s their prerogative and it’s something which needs to happen in speedway. “I can assure people I will be making sure the riders give it 100 per cent to win because that’s what the paying public want and we will be doing all we can to win for Swindon Speedway.” Swindon adver

and just to reiterate the point:
Lakeside meeting to run on Monday
SWINDON Robins have confirmed their Elite League clash with Lakeside Hammers will go ahead as planned this Monday, September 9.
A probable switch of TV coverage from the Abbey Stadium to Belle Vue for their clash with play-off contenders Poole meant Robins chiefs were considering reverting back to their regular Thursday racenight.
But co-promoter and team manager Alun Rossiter has moved to clarify the position of the club.
He said: “I can confirm the meeting with Lakeside will go ahead as planned next Monday.
“We are staying on that date to avoid any confusion or doubt and we hope all our fans turn out in force for what is our last league meeting before the play-offs – and it’s one we are keen to win.
“I can assure our fans, in fact everyone, that our riders will be up for this meeting and determined to add another three points to our total.”
