Former world champ @chris_Holder23 makes his racing return in the Jason Crump Classic at Kurri Kurri on Boxing Day
FORMER WORLD CHAMP BACK UNDER SEIGE
Hunter region riders are preparing a tough return to race riding for former World Speedway
Champion, Chris Holder at Kurri Kurri Speedway on Boxing Night 26 December 2013.
Holder will make his long awaited return to competition in the 2013 Jason Crump Classic. Holder has
been off the scene for several months following serious injuries as the result of a horrific race crash
while competing for his UK Elite League Champion Club Poole Pirates.
Newcastle’s speedway stars, Jason Doyle and Sam Masters have accepted invitations to compete in
the event. Both riders will be determined to improve on their performances in the recent NSW
Speedway Solo Championship held at Kurri Kurri Speedway two weeks ago. Doyle had an
outstanding year riding for Birmingham and Somerset in the UK and Masters won the NSW title last
year. Neither rider made it through to the 2013 NSW Championship final.
Kurri Kurri riders Rohan Tungate and Mason Campton are two other riders who are expected to lay
down the challenge for Chris Holder. Campton recently won the 2013 Queensland Under 21
Championship and was runner up in the2013 NSW Under 21 Championship but he too failed to make
it through to the 2013 NSW Senior Solo Championship Final. Tungate did qualify for the NSW
Championship Final and finished third to teenage sensations Brady Kurtz (Cowra) and Jack Holder
(Appin), both of whom will line up again in the Jason Crump Classic.
Five interstate riders have accepted invitations to compete including Dakota North from Victoria and
Queenslanders Nick Morris, Ryan Douglas, Jake Allen and Tyson Snow.
The Jason Crump Classic will be supported by events for 500cc solos and senior sidecars. Racing
commences at 6:30pm.
The meeting ignites a busy time for the Kurri Kurri Speedway Club with Round 1 of the Kurri v
Gosford Teams Challenge on Saturday 28 December 2013 and Round 1 of the prestigious 2014
Australian Speedway Solo Championship fully sanctioned by Motorcycling Australia on Saturday 04
January 2014
