NP is a serious gamble. I’m not confident. The guy is a machine that accepts no pain, fair play he works very hard with his fitness. He just loves riding his bike but I can’t help but feel he should have retired after the last big crash. We do have very good potential in Basso and Cook but can’t see NP & NKI matching Doyle and Emil.

From SGP site 21/2/23
Triple world champion Nicki Pedersen insists his 2022 injury setback was never going to force him out of the saddle.
The Speedway GP legend suffered a badly broken hip and pelvis in a PGE Ekstraliga crash in Grudziadz last June. His injuries could have ended the 45-year-old’s career, but incredibly, Pedersen’s training for 2023 continues apace.
The former Eastbourne star is preparing for a remarkably busy season after taking over from Hans Nielsen as Danish team manager ahead of July’s FIM Speedway World Cup in Wroclaw. He’s also set to race for Holsted in his homeland and PGE Ekstraliga side Grudziadz in Poland. On top of that, the Odense-born ace is starring with his family in new Kanal 5 and Discovery+ reality show Team Pedersen, taking viewers behind the scenes of both his racing and life away from the sport.
While being Danish boss and a TV star would have been enough for some, Pedersen admits he still loves life on the track and refuses to let injuries call time on his career.
He said: “Before when I have broken my neck two times, everybody was thinking ‘okay, he’ll retire now. He has done his bit.’ It would have been a fair way to stop, but I don’t want to.
“I still love this sport and it’s my income. It’s part of me. I still feel I put a lot into the sport. I don’t do it because of other people. I do it for myself because I can, because I enjoy it and because I love it. I still feel I have things to put into the sport.
“I know the head is alright, as it always has been. I am pretty strong in my head. I haven’t had any doubts as to whether I can race the bike again or not. I haven’t thought about whether it’s going to be painful or not. I am not in any pain, so why should the pain come when I start racing?
“Everything is healed up properly, which is good. I don’t have any pain at the moment at all when I am training. I just need to get fit again, get back on the bike and focus on the racing.”
Pedersen admits he has had to train smart since breaking his hip. He said: “I usually run a lot. I like running. But at the moment, I am cycling instead. It’s not that I have any pain, but in the long term, it’s about not doing damage and not letting the pain return to the pelvis.
“I broke the pelvis, and the left leg went through it. It’s in the right place, but instead of pushing it when you are running, it’s better to put less pressure on the pelvis by cycling.”

All Panthers fans will hope that Pedersen is right in his positivity.. Personally at age 46 and having not ridden competitively since being repaired, I have serious doubts . Apart from that I have always found it sad when those that were at the very top carry on too long and struggle

If he was 15 or 20 years younger I'd be a bit more confident of a good recovery but at 45/46 not quite so? According to his reported training and schedule he's not pushing it, so when he is stressing the joint and pelvis on a bike, without pain or discomfort, then I'll be a bit more confident. It is indeed sad when they don't know when to stop and they spoil their legacy & great memories. I didn't make any attempt to watch Crump when he returned with Ipswich. That was a bridge too far for me. Andersen is now in that group. I hope that he does himself justice in 2023.

It’s not easy coming back, especially at his age - no matter how hard you train. Niki is a winner and will cross the line, having no fear is not good. He just loves riding his bike but sometimes you have to admit your time is up. I’m not confident he will go through the season without another injury.

I watched him grow from a Panthers super young reserve to an absolute superstar. One of the best riders ever. He was smart, arrogant, professional and strongly opinionated which is why I couldn’t believe he would ever make a comeback after so long out. I assume just passing the time with his son. Backfired and tarnished his magnificent legacy.

I share your concerns but their are significant differences, Crump was out 11 years and that was always going to be a massive hurdle to overcome, Pedersen was racing at pretty much the top level when he got hurt last year and he is still years younger than HANCOCK who was racing top level speedway until he was fifty. I think Pedersen is like Crump in that he thinks winning is the be all and end all of a race and hates being beaten by anyone, providing his gating is still sharp I don’t see much of a problem with him maintaining a good level of performance (8.00 to 8.50) I am more concerned with how Worrall and Andersen go but I would definitely pair Hans with Pedersen as it will be the push Andersen needs this year to get back to a decent second string/third heat leader. I have less concern for Iversen and Basso, Iversen held Lynn together whilst he there last year and they pretty much went downhill after he left, Basso I think will kick on from last year and Cook and Jenkins should surprise a lot of people as well. If one of Andersen and Worrall goes well I think we will be okay, if not I can see a change coming.

I like basso but I’ve seen better riders than him who have failed to take the next as step as a heatleader if he maintains his average he’ll be had a good season

must admit I keep looking at it and what’s the old saying 8u115hit baffles brains looking at the thread and posters I nearly lowered my self and replied 🫣 You're in the gutter now Our latest permutation and signing: Thursday was rainy in many parts of Poland, while motorbikes whirred again outside our country. The training sessions took place on tracks in Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Italy. Nicki Pedersen is back to riding. The highlight of the ninth day of March was the return to the track of Nicki Pedersen. Nicki Pedersen is currently in Debrecen, where he made his official debut as manager of the Danish national team. The speedway rider initially did not plan to go to the track, but changed his mind. On Wednesday, the mechanic of the three-time world champion covered a long distance from Pedersen's homeland to Hungary, and thanks to that he could appear on the track. On Thursday, the Danish national team had more rides, and the new head of speedway on Canal+ TV, Maciej Glazik , reported the return of Nicki Pedersen via Twitter. "I don't feel pain" - these are the most important words spoken by the rider on Thursday, among others. ZOOleszcz of GKM Grudziądz . An experienced speedway rider, after only one run, decided to go from the tape and the race... he won. Pedersen in Debrecen will also train on Friday. And in just a few days, because on March 20, he will take part in the Peter Craven Memorial in Manchester .

We've heard about Pedersen's hand but I didn't realise that he had two short fingers. Controlling the throttle and hanging on with a full hand is tough enough but to do what Pedersen has done has to be commended.

PETERBOROUGH supporters are reminded that Season Tickets for the 2023 campaign remain on sale until the club’s first home meeting.
Opening night at the East of England Showground is Monday March 27 when Panthers face local rivals Ipswich, four nights after the sides face off at Foxhall.
And it’s set to be a blockbuster Premiership clash with the new-look Panthers spearhead of Nicki Pedersen and Niels-Kristian Iversen taking on Witches stars Jason Doyle and Emil Sayfutdinov in a mouth-watering first meeting.
Season tickets offer a significant discount on the cost of attending all fixtures individually, and are interchangeable between family and friends if you have to miss a meeting.
They cover all 12 home Premiership meetings plus one KO Cup match, with Panthers having a bye to the semi-finals and awaiting the winners of the Ipswich/Leicester tie.
Priced at £260 (adults) and £234 (concessions), season tickets include a programme for each meeting and free parking in the main car park. Child season tickets are available for £50 (not including programme).

Season ticket applications should be made to seasontickets@peterborough-speedway.com. - at which point everything goes in to a black hole as further communication is minimal, although that's an exaggeration.

The Panthers’ new-look septet are set to come together for the first time at Press Day, just over 72 hours prior to their Premiership opener at Ipswich on March 23.
Riders will meet the media at the behind-closed-doors event prior to hopefully putting in laps of the Showground circuit, depending on the weather conditions in the build-up to the day.And it’s set to be a busy UK return for new No.1 Nicki Pedersen, who is back in British racing for the first time since 2011.
Pedersen will complete his duties at Alwalton and then head up north to take part in the Peter Craven Memorial Trophy at Belle Vue, an event firmly established as one of the top Individual meetings in the country.
The Dane believes the current set of Premiership circuits should suit him, and he admits the universally popular Manchester venue is one which he is looking forward to experiencing.Pedersen said: “I’ve been to Belle Vue once when it opened (in 2016) but didn’t do a full meeting, so I can’t wait to get back to that one.
“Mostly the tracks in the league now are good. King’s Lynn has always been good and Peterborough is a good track as well.
“There used to be some tough ones like Oxford, even though I rode for them, but there weren’t any tracks that I didn’t like.
“To become World Champion you have to be good everywhere, and if you’re consistent on all of them then you might be World Champion one day!
“I’ve been to Leicester a bit for testing, and that’s definitely one of the trickier ones, a bit like Arena-Essex used to be.
“You’re not going as fast there and it’s kind of like the indoor tracks, and I’ve been on them so I’ll figure it out.”
Pedersen, the new Danish team manager, feels being part of a contingent including fellow countrymen Niels-Kristian Iversen and Hans Andersen and exciting youngster Benjamin Basso is also a positive for the Panthers team overall.
He said: “I know Hans, I know Iversen and Basso, and that’s going to make it even better with the language, and I can drop straight onto the team.
“Basso texted me, he was excited because he could learn a lot of tricks with me, and I said yes, there are plenty, and it’s also good that I can help those kind of guys!”
Panthers’ opening home meeting is against Ipswich on March 27, with that meeting set to feature the Witches’ star duo of Jason Doyle and Emil Sayfutdinov – the Russian racer who is back in the sport after a year-long ban following his country’s invasion of Ukraine, and was this week cleared to race in Poland after securing his licence via an examination.

club website 4/4/23 And that was the case from the get go which is why I said that some may get a shock if they hadn't read (and clarified with Johnson) the original literature which didn't really confirm one thing or the other re season ticket parking (BBs unaffected with usual provision) in 2023. If stadium parking was a valuable perk and decision maker then there may be some unhappy early purchase punters? I do find it hard to believe that a decision to purchase a season ticket would be based on an able bodied person having to walk from the main car park. It may P a few off but it’s more important for BB holders to have the inside stadium access, season ticket holder or not. I think that it was a bit of a shock for those returning ST holders not paying attention to the 2023 application details, although I suspect that the main issue for most was having to participate in Wacky Races leaving the stadium, eventually, from the main car park. I think that the club's intention was to park ST holders on the grassed area next to the gate 3 entrance but I looked at that last Monday and that area is a mess, needs remedial work (who's going to find the time & funds to do that? Not the EoES I suspect, if they knew of the arrangement that is?) to make it useable and it would still be unusable during wet periods anyway.
