This imo is a betrayal as serious as as judas and jesus. The woman should do the honourable thing and go It's certainly not a good look although I'm not sure that she should fall on her sword for it? However, the press release is shocking and to give AEPG publicity and any semblance of respectability is pretty close to a sacking offence? I suspect this was more to do with a liquid lunch of business people somewhere and that she was an innocent party but should have known better. She either does not care or is totally out of touch , ÍMO her position is untenable

I slept on it but my opinion is many are being too harsh on this Phantoms representative. They have the interest of Peterborough Ice Hockey and appears have probably never really heard of Speedway. It’s a norm these days. My interest is Speedway, I have zero interest in Ice hockey. If flipped around I admit that I don’t care if we have ice hockey in the city or not. Don’t see any reason to hang this women.

If you look at the descriptions of the business of Phantoms' Premier Partner and AEPG then a business lunch and suggestion seems most logical? Posted elsewhere by Bratters:
One year ago on August 14th 2023 the development plans for the East of England Showground that were first submitted to the planning department in June 2023 completed their validation and were published on the planning portal of Peterborough City Council.
A lot has happened since that date. A lot has also not happened since that date.
It’s worth stating that presently there is no indication of the plans being approved or rejected by the planning department and no future meeting has been scheduled.
It’s not surprising really, given that over 2000 objections have been submitted to the planning portal by Panthers supporters, other Showground events supporters, local residents, Peterborough residents and residents across the U.K. and Worldwide. For balance there has been approximately 100 submissions of support for the development, uncannily most of them arrived in the space of two or three weeks and mostly from people who live nowhere near our city.
We have not found any other planning application on the planning portal with so many objections.
We were told by the developers that spades in the ground would be in the Spring of 2024, the catalyst for the termination of the Showground’s longest serving tenant, The Peterborough Panthers Speedway Club.
This has now been revised to Spring 2025.
We were told via press interviews/releases that the development would create 500 jobs, this was revised to 1000 jobs in the space of two weeks, coincidentally when the Panthers plight began to gather press traction and also the £50m development suddenly became a £200m+ development, all without a single brick being laid.
Meanwhile, Panthers supporters have held a city centre rally and the Peterborough Speedway Consortium has continued to regularly lobby councillors, MPs, developers and anyone else who will care to listen, putting our case that the Showground developers are not following the Peterborough Local Plan in respect of the Speedway Club and specifically those policies that were inserted into the Peterborough Local Plan for the sole purpose of protecting the Speedway Club.
A report on Speedway was commissioned by the developers that appeared to be an attempt to demonise and mock our club and our sport. That report was debunked as it was demonstrated that it had been lazily cut and pasted from a report commissioned by the proposed developers of Coventry stadium and merely repeats the points raised and rejected by the Planning Inspectorate at the Coventry Stadium appeal.
Furthermore the successful appeal was raised in the House of Commons during PMQs and was pleasantly acknowledged by the PM.
Peterborough Panthers Speedway Club and its supporters are clearly a major problem for the developer’s and the Consortium have been refused many requests for a face to face meeting with the developer to ask them to comply with national and local planning policies.
Speedway in Peterborough should be preserved and we will do everything to ensure that it is. It’s about doing the right thing, we are not going away.
It’s worth noting that agricultural shows and events at Showgrounds throughout England are currently booming. (hopefully we've collected evidence to back up that statement?)
The East of England Showground, in the bread basket of England, remains embarrassingly overgrown with grasses and weeds throwing their seeds and pollen over local residents gardens and affecting some local residents who suffer with Asthma and Hay Fever. If only someone with events experience (which would be key, unlike in the past) could take the Showground by the scruff of its neck and put on a programme of events for all people to enjoy and use the venue for what the land was originally gifted for. I guess we can all dream.

You did say she shouldn’t have to fall on her sword. Rodders was very direct and Bratters did state something about it being slated on FB, not sure if that meant her or The Phantoms - probably a bit of both. When I said I wouldn’t care if we had Ice Hockey in the City. That just meant me. I understand and know people that do like it. Since I stopped buying the ET I very rarely see or hear anything about it.

Since I stopped buying the ET I very rarely see or hear anything about it. I feel the same. I've never been to ice hockey and have no interest in it but would expect the management and administration of one of the city's main sporting establishments to be a bit brighter than that. They would read the ET and could indeed in no way claim ignorance about AEPG, the East of England Showground and Peterborough Speedway. And to then give them publicity on the back of it sticks in the throat a bit as you can tell

Went once. Too cold. Never went again. LOL I went a few times, you can’t see the puck. You don’t know it’s a goal until they celebrate. A customer took me to a Chicago Blackhawks match when on business, pleased I wasn’t paying. It’s over $500 per person, just for regular seats. Thousands of people there. Didn’t even know their teams name let alone a single player. All superstars out there. A few years ago in Santorini ended up sharing a table with a very nice, down to earth US couple. They were on their Honeymoon. Had a really fun night. Not once did they mention he was, still is the captain of The New York Islanders. A massive star, I’d never heard of him. They think Speedway is only cars and wouldn’t pick Greg Hancock out in a line up

Ice Hockey survived longer than Speedway at both Wembley and Harringay as it did at Southampton And the point is? People are obviously entitled to like or dislike ice hockey, but to me the comments on here regarding ice hockey are in the same vein as those that claim Speedway is boring as first out of start always wins.

IMO Speedway and Ice Hockey have always had an unbreakable link, indeed the same people used to in days of yore run both supporters clubs. Butterfield has always been ahead of the game and has now created with help of others a divide between the two. Speedway should have liaised with Ice Hockey to present a united front but that opportunity has been spurned and thrown away including from those at the highest level of Panthers preservation. I have no doubt that had it not been for Nottingham Panthers the Ice Hockey team would have been called Panthers.

23/00400/OUT Application Supporting Document REVISED Health Impact Assessment 16/08/2024
1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 This Health Impact Assessment (HIA) has been prepared by AEPR and then subsequently amended by RSK Environment Ltd (RSK Environment).
1.2 AEPR are a wholly owned subsidiary of AEPG Ltd and are the ‘applicant’ for the Proposed Development.
1.3 There are two separate planning applications at this Site which may be consented either separately or together and which together form the ‘Proposed Development’.
1.4 This HIA relates specifically to what is referred to as ‘Land B’. For Land B, outline permission is being sought for up to 850 dwellings, a primary school, hotel, a mixed-use leisure facility and a care village (hereafter ‘the Proposed Development’). All matters are reserved other than access, which will be via Joseph Odam Way and via Dunblane Drive for buses.
1.5 There is a separate HIA document which focuses solely on ‘Land A’ therefore Land A will not be considered within this report.

As far as Ice Hockey in Peterborough is concerned, it’s all a bit meh to me. £1800 sponsorship is hardly big time sponsorship of a semi professional second division Ice Hockey team. Why on earth would Panthers want to liaise with them, we don’t have a team currently. And as for Butterfield being ahead of the game, lol he’s an amateur in the big boys world of development. If the positions had been reversed, would I have taken his money? Depends how desperate we were, but likely not. When the Ice Hockey club inevitably get their begging bowl out again, I think they will find very few Speedway people willing to contribute.

AEPG Ltd doesn’t exist. Amateurs. Can’t even get their company name right. Just one of a number of anomalies. ASSET EARNING POWER GROUP (AEPG) LTD does exist though, with Butterfield as the only active person who therefore has significant control: notified on 20 August 2020 which I guess is a new company he set up for the EoES? I guess that makes the REVISED Health Impact Assessment accurate in respect of AEPR ASSET EARNING POWER RESIDENTIAL (AEPR) LTD exists of 2021 under the same structure as (AEPG 2020) Don't know anything about the specifics of setting up companies but it does seem strange to claim a long track record of success when you seem to have been in existence for less time than the 2019 Peterborough Local Plan?
