Sayfutdinov has been absent from Elite League play-off-chasing Coventry’s side and returns for their meeting against Eastbourne at Arlington on Monday (Sept 12)
But the rider admits this could be his last meeting for the Bees as his Russian league commitments threaten to clash with Coventry’s play-off dates if they reach the top four.
He said: “It’s a problem now. I’m just going to Coventry for the meeting on Monday I think.
“They have many meetings in Russia now and this is a problem. I’m not riding in the play-offs.”
Asked whether he made the right decision in taking on the No.1 race jacket at Brandon, the Russian replied: “Of course, it has been a good school for me. It’s the first season when I’ve had more meetings, but it has been too many meetings for me.”
Sayfutdinov does not rule out a return to the UK next year. He added: “I will see. I must think about everything for next season. I must finish off this season first and we’ll see. I’ll make a decision.”

So much for drawing a line BEES FOR SALE - CONTACT DETAILSWednesday September 21, 2011 It is with great regret that Coventry Speedway wish to announce that they will not be operating speedway in 2012 under the current management. Coventry Racing Club cannot condone the manner in which the sport is run and as a result it feels that it is in the best interests of all parties if the club seeks a new owner to take Coventry Speedway forward into the future. The club now invites interested parties on a full acquisition of Coventry speedway or a season by season lease to contact Allen Trump or Jeremy Heaver at info@coventrybees.co to take the matter further. beesweb

Any news on the new owner/s yet? Will be interesting to see who takes this on FORMER Peterborough Panthers owner Mick Horton has confirmed he is in the running to buy Elite League club Coventry. The Bees were put up for sale by current owner Avtar Sandhu last month. City businessman Horton had a two-and-a-half year stint at the Panthers helm until selling the club to brother Colin in 2005. Horton told the Evening Telegraph he is one of several interested parties. He said: “I know there are a few people interested and I am certainly one of them. I’ve had a few years out of the sport and really want to get back in. “Coventry have a great history and a great crowd base. It is a very professionally run club and a place where riders want to ride.” Horton first became involved in speedway when sponsoring Panthers through his Europress printing firm. He also owned Mildenhall and his last involvement in the sport was as team manager at Oxford in 2007 until that club closed down. Horton was linked to an attempt to take over football club Stockport County a couple of years ago. boroet
Really looking forward to the close season now, this one could be an absolute belter. Poor Coventry. ;D

Can't see Rick getting involved unless he wants out of the EoES? I'm sure that he'd have been briefed on the Oxford disaster? Can't see Maud getting involved (although he will have more time on his hands now apparently?). I'm sure that it'll be an eye opener whoever it is, hold on to a partner, this is speedway administration after all

I see the news about Mick Horton taking over Coventry has gone down well on the BSF. The smug git still owes me £20 and i suspect others that were connected to the club a hell of a lot more. If British speedway was a serious sport he would never get by the due diligence test

Sayfutdinov cleary not heard the rumour wdict.net/word/emil+sayfutdinov/Emil Sayfutdinov’s manager Tomasz Suskiewicz says the Russian racer is keen to stay at Coventry next year.
The Salavat-born man, who celebrated his 22nd birthday yesterday, caused a huge stir when he was announced as the Bees’ new No.1 halfway through the season. He joined on an 8.00 assessed average and could sign on this figure next year. This means his place wouldn’t be threatened if Elite League clubs vote to maintain the current rule limiting teams to just one rider with an average of 8.01 or more. Coventry have already recruited British star Chris Harris on a 7.97 figure and there is no doubt he would form a powerful spearhead with his SGP rival at Brandon. Sayfutdinov hinted last month that he wasn’t sure whether he could take on a full fixture list in Britain in 2012. But Suskiewicz says the Bydgoszcz man is keen to add Coventry’s meetings to his diary. He said: “Emil really wants to ride in Britain again. We really want to be back at Coventry. When I spoke with Rosco (team manager Alun Rossiter), he said he sees a place for Emil in the team for next year, and Emil wants to come back.” If Sayfutdinov does put pen to paper, Coventry fans will be concerned about the number of meetings the former world No.3 missed this term due to his Russian club and individual commitments. Suskiewicz admits there will be some clashes, but feels these could be minimised with some forward planning. He added: “We haven’t seen the British calendar yet and we don’t know the calendar in Russia either. “As far as I know, he will probably miss a few meetings, or Coventry will have to make the calendar to fit their meetings in with the Russian ones. Then that wouldn’t affect the club much.” Asked whether sitting out the Russian meetings was an option, Suskiewicz replied: “Because he’s the best Russian rider, he can’t miss that league. He has some good back-up from his club in Balakovo and some sponsors there as well. “He needs to be there. To promote the Russian speedway scene, he needs to ride in Russia and do all the meetings.” speedwayGP

I heard that Sandhu is still running the financial side and he only brought Horton back to annoy Ford and co and Horton is going to go crazy in the AGM.

If British speedway was a serious sport he would never get by the due diligence test I was one of the mugs who gave him £100 when he asked for help!! Also I sponsored Ryan and was supposed to have his kevlars given to me with a photo session, autographs etc etc. What happened? I asked Mick when am I getting the kevlars? he said to go and ask Ryan who was in the bar and Ryan said he wasnt going to give them to me until he was paid!! I finally got them from Mick who just bundled them up (still filthy) and and told me they had cost him a fortune!!!! Good luck to the Bees if he takes over.

AN official club statement will be made in the near future as to the future ownership of Coventry Speedway. As confirmed at our dinner-dance event on Saturday, provisional agreement has been reached with Mick Horton to take over for the 2012 season, which will require ratification by the BSPA. A full joint statement will be made soon upon Avtar Sandhu’s return from a family wedding in India.makes you wonder if he has fully brought the club or just the lease on a year by year basis? Sir Jasper's reply: well, a provisional agreement has been agreed for 2012, as that statement says. To me nothing much is changing, except Horton's name is over the doors (provisionally) Rosco and Pratt are still there, this ensures we have a vote at the AGM (something Sandhu has never done) and Sandhu no longer wants to have to deal with Speedway, yet he still gets to enjoy it all, and picking up some cash from it. I think once he has a break again he will want to get back in. However the BSPA / MC etc whoever is seemingly against Sandhu now has an issue on their hands, do they accept Horton taking over the club knowing he at the very least has allegations placed against him and a poor reputation, or do they turn it down and continue to deal with the Coventry promotion with Sandhu involved.
