Out-of-contract Peterborough United pair Grant McCann and Mark Little have been told they will be offered new deals to stay at the club.Midfielder McCann and full-back Little were placed on the transfer list last summer, but went on to have outstanding seasons as Posh just failed to stay in the Championship for a club-record third successive campaign. The pair made 43 appearances apiece, the third highest tally after goalkeeper Bobby Olejnik and forward Lee Tomlin. Posh have also made record signing Tyrone Barnett , fellow strikers Emile Sinclair and Nicky Ajose, plus midfielder Danny Kearns available for transfer. All except Kearns were on the transfer list last season. Manager Darren Ferguson, who earlier this week confirmed he would be staying on at London Road next season, met with his first-team squad today. He emerged from those meetings confident Posh would be a Championship club again this time next year. The nucleus of the squad will not change,” Ferguson said: “Grant McCann and Mark Little will be offered contracts. They will be given a certain time to think about those offers and make a decision. “There are certain players who will have to go because we have to balance the books, I imagine there will be interest in some players and if bids do come in we will talk about it then. “This will be a short term fix. We will spend nine months in League One. There is no doubt in my mind. I am not being arrogant, we will get out of the league. “We will dust ourselves down and go again. I would not want to be playing us on the first day of the League One season. There will be so much anger and frustration coming out,” It’s understood skipper Tommy Rowe and centre-back Gaby Zakuani are entering the last year of their Posh contracts. No extension with either player has yet been discussed. PT
