So can Posh finally build on winning a match as they take on fourth placed Preston? Only a home win is really good enough but unless Ferguson has instilled some positivity and forward thinking into his side then that eventuality still seems someway off? With three matches over the festive period, which takes us to halfway in the season, I think that Posh really need seven points minimum from those three matches which means that if they only draw this then they'd need to win at Chesterfield and at home against Doncaster, so no pressure!
Peterborough United midfielder Joe Newell serves a one-game suspension after being sent off in the victory at Leyton Orient last weekend.
Jack Baldwin and Jon Taylor (both knee) are injured, while Marcus Maddison is a doubt with an ankle injury.
Preston full-back David Buchanan will have a fitness test on a hamstring injury but defender Bailey Wright is out with a groin problem.
Strikers Joe Garner and Jordan Hugill (both knee) remain sidelined.
Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire:
"We need to improve our home form because we need to get more fans into the stadium.
"With Preston on Saturday and then Doncaster at home on 28 December, it's important we start getting some points at home.
"We have to make sure we stick to what we have worked on, stick to our game and not let anything affect us."

Well after 2 sleeps and considering management's and BBC Cambs' attempts to accenuate the positive points (buggered if I know what they were) then I still come up with the word garbage (continued garbage actually) as Posh lose 0-1 to creep closer to mid table obscurity:
Peterborough United
27 Alnwick (problems start with his slow, wayward, pointless distribution). 06 Bostwick Booked 25 Zakuani (James - 87' ) 21 Burgess 03 Ntlhe 35 Beautyman 08 Payne 15 Anderson (Mendez-Laing - 71' ) 10 Oztumer 20 McLean Booked 36 Mackail-Smith
Substitutes
02 Smith 09 James 12 Vassell 13 Day 14 Washington 19 Mendez-Laing 22 Almeida Santos
