Crawley badly in need of the points so no better side to play when in need than the Posh. Without a decent striker, Posh are unlikely to score so one goal could do it for the visitors? Will Posh go out on a high in their last home match of the season? 90+4 minutes (without the crucial Barnsley minute on top!) will tell.

4-3 can be deceptive. You'd think that this was a cracker. Crawley were poor (that's why they'll probably be relegated) but they still managed to score 3 times. They also made a poor Posh side look good by conceding 4. To be fair to Robertson though, his side are playing more positively than under Ferguson but he can only work with the tools at his disposal. It's not his fault that the players are not very good or that he hasn't got a decent goalscorer. It's a fine line. The strange bottom line for me is that had Posh kept Assombalonga then they'd comfortably be in the play-offs at worse now Peterborough United 27 Alnwick 02 Smith 25 Zakuani 22 Almeida Santos (Burgess - 70' ) 17 Newell (Payne - 81' ) 28 Anderson 06 Bostwick 10 Oztumer 37 Da Silva Lopes (Edwards - 66' ) 30 Maddison 14 Washington Substitutes

There wasn’t enough quality on show to take the lazy journalist option and describe the match as a ‘seven-goal thriller’ but a surprise ending of two Posh goals in the final four minutes and the ensuing ramifications for Crawley Town ensured there were many post-match talking points. To get back to the Championship next season the club needs to make a speedy decision on the next manager, find the next Dwight Gayle (Assombalonga my example), ensure that Marcus Maddison concentrates on his football rather than his RADA skills, cure Jon Taylor’s knee injury for good, get Jack Baldwin and Gaby Zakuani playing together at the heart of the defence and re-discover the attacking mojo that made London Road a place opponents fear to tread. The current squad, apart from a dismal effort at Scunthorpe on Good Friday, have sweated hard for Dave Robertson since he became manager in February and they may not need many additions to push for promotion next season, especially as League One is shaping up to be a far weaker competition in 2015/16. They struggled through this contest for the most part, but they kept going to the end and found a way to win, and they are never bad habits to have in the Football League.full unedited text at peterboroughtoday.co.uk
