Len retiring from Kent Speedway , must put clubs future in serious doubt!!! Sad if another one goes. I was hoping the Premier would expand so that the starting objective isn't to avoid the wooden spoon or avoid finishing second bottom. I thought that Peter Adams wasn't keen on running Wolves with only 6 teams again so watch that space.

Kent appeared to be a club that had no problems, apart from their limited track time. Len has been in this game for 75 years - there comes a time when you can’t go on. Especially given the continuous stressful challenges. They appear to have a good set up and fan base. Hope they can find someone to keep them on track.

Len retiring from Kent Speedway , must put clubs future in serious doubt!!! Don't know if this has moved on in a week. STATEMENT FROM LEN SILVER, promoter of Kent Speedway... 1/11/21“It is with some personal sadness that I can report that as soon as the administration of Kent Speedway affairs is finalised, I will be retiring from all activities concerning Kent Speedway. I am stepping aside in the hope that a new younger person can take over the promotion of Speedway at Central Park and such a person will receive every possible help and advice from myself. “The first seven years of my activities at Sittingbourne were a pure delight and enjoyable mainly because of the wonderful attitude of the fans of Kent. But 2021, starting with the Pandemic and the huge problems that it gave, followed by no less than seven rain offs and rider retirements, made the stress levels go through the roof. Then my co-promoter, Roger Cearns, sold the stadium business with the proviso that Speedway remained, only to discover that the delay in receiving a written agreement was such that we were unable to plan for 2022 and we were forced to release all our riders. Other issues followed which brought about my decision. “Speedway has been my life for 75 years and I have loved every minute of it until the last month or two. I sincerely hope that Speedway has a future at Central Park and I will do all in my power to help that happen.” Kent website

David Mason, Birmingham promotor, had a riddled dig at BSPA supporting Len and why he understands his decision. Mason also stated they wished they had a Birmingham get out some time ago. I am not in the know but it appears Kent were not given any dispensation regarding their last months fixture list in order to meet the strict Oct deadline. This has been a regular issue in a Speedway season but not being able to start until April / May, running two teams with Seven rain offs made no case with the Gestapo - of which Len used to be a decision maker. You would have thought he would know the score after 75 years.
