interesting statement from Buster on KL site Made Panthers site as well: KEITH Chapman has moved to clarify his position as owner of both King’s Lynn and Peterborough Speedway amidst rumours of rider movement at various Sports Insure Premiership clubs.Chapman retains his promoter’s licence at King’s Lynn but has confirmed the day-to-day running of the club, and financial affairs, are in the hands of others. He is also the owner of Peterborough where work continues to fill the position vacated by Nicki Pedersen who left the club after one meeting. Chapman said: “I’ve been reading plenty of comments over recent days and I think it’s important to lay out clearly what the situation is. “I no longer have any financial involvement in King’s Lynn Speedway, and whilst I still hold a promoter’s licence there, this will be my last season in that role and I’ve made that clear to everyone. “All of the financial and team matters at King’s Lynn are taken on by Alex Brady and Dale Allitt, although obviously I still have responsibility for the stadium. “I do still own the club, it hasn’t been sold yet, but the funding is not coming from me this year. “At Peterborough everyone knows the problems we have faced, and it was me who did the deal with Nicki Pedersen to race at No.1, which unfortunately went wrong after one race. “Since then we’ve been looking for a replacement, and trying to book the best guests we can under the circumstances. “It hasn’t always worked but we had Max Fricke lined up for a meeting that was rained off, and I paid for Dan Bewley to guest on Monday in a meeting against King’s Lynn, so there’s no question of me making decisions to favour one club over the other. “The team and financial decisions at King’s Lynn are completely separate from me now, and of course I still desperately want Peterborough to survive beyond this season. “I just want to make it totally clear that the two clubs are not being run by the same person with one being prioritised over the other.”

interesting statement from Buster on KL site I must be honest Rodders my thought was exactly the same, I was always under the impression that Keith Chapman didn’t read the forums but it’s clear he has, probably while sunning himself in Spain, it’s also clear that both CJ and Tomalin have also been reading the forums bearing in mind their recent outbursts on Facebook and Twitter. They have all took a fair amount of flak over the last few weeks so it’s now clearly starting to grate.

Never thought that CJ had or has ever had any clout , arguably set up as fall guy to take the flack. Situation re Tomalin enigmatic to say the least. As some have suggested permanently on holiday. Content for others in firing line.

Jeez, how many times can you contradict yourself in a short statement. What’s that smell?

Some on BSF seem to feel you are not entitled to express a view unless you clean the air fence and the bogs.

Some on BSF seem to feel you are not entitled to express a view unless you clean the air fence and the bogs. That was just someone upsetting management (with the I pay my £22 which entitles me to moan. Which is true IMO but there are limits) who then unfortunately reacted to it with the "what have you done/what do you do for Peterborough Speedway?" answer, amongst other things. If you poke them enough repeatedly and repetitively then it's human nature that they'll snap, it does become a touch tiresome. I know because that was probably me once In this instance it's frustration borne out of Chapman's ownership (seems to delegate to people who can't follow instructions or he can't remember what was agreed), a poor product and team more often that not, an uncertain future (if any) for the club and terrible outgoing communications with most news seemingly leaked by someone with a flappy jaw! Wouldn't get too excited: Horton had his moments, Bratters has, Hans Andersen has, Swales has and even Frost/Mahoney. It comes with the territory.

At next meeting bring a bog brush a quick swish in trap 3 and you can say what you want!! Now now Rodders, don't sink to that level. It's a fair point of view from Johnson (many others have said similar before) but it's never going to go down well with the keyboard warriors. That's where lack of effective communications always leads unfortunately. It's such an easy problem to solve.

I may be looking for a pattern where none exists, but is it just possible that Chapman saw a situation of:
Kings Lynn being promoted / financed by Allitt and Brady and Peterborough being promoted / financed by Tomalin and Johnson.
While ownership of both clubs remained with Chapman? This would be ok until a falling out with Tomalin over Holdergate or finances, hence the present apparent impasse.

Sounds logical and nice and tidy so I wouldn't dismiss such a suggestion.

When cack hits fan everybody in the firing line try’s to divert it…just because they read comments from posters on Facebook and bsf what they don’t like they come out cack slinging .there’s plenty of people who don’t use either have far more harsh words than what I’ve read . The place has been a cack show this year.I’m just not paying good money to watch it

The place has been a cack show this year.I’m just not paying good money to watch it Normally I'd agree and I'd be in the "I've paid my money and will say what I like camp" - the point is that it's nothing new and now is not the time for abuse. Yes people can have their keyboard warrior moment but keep it civil and be constructive. Withdrawing support is fine if that's what you wish and would be fine under normal circumstances but at this time it's not the right strategy IMO. We may not get a 2024 anyway but we sure as hell will not if we're fighting amongst ourselves. The club is rudderless and the management structure and responsibilities have been unclear for years under Chapman. Johnson's only hitting out because things have been festering for years. It's pretty much been cack since Chapman took over (one lucky year) but the only way to get new owners and a future is to calm down and stay firm. OK, if that's too much for some then stay away (which will probably be forever) but don't mess it up for everyone else. As Graham Taylor said: "Well you worry Rob, but go and worry on your own, don't make the F****** rest of us worry"

Staying away and withdrawing support is certainly counter productive and not the way to go if there is to be any chance of continuing beyond this season. Equally those that claim that unless you clean the safety fence and wash the bogs you should just keep quiet are also not helping.
It would be silly to deny that lots of work goes on behind the scenes which is probably not appreciated and can understand how those persons get frustrated and lash out. Once again the whole thing comes down again to total lack of communication. This has been the case with every management team I can recall. Understand that there are many things and many reasons why it is not possible to tell all, at the moment however we are being told sod all and we must like it or lump it. I remember having a spat with Bratters during the Colin Horton regime when he denied there were any financial problems when of course there were. Understand of course now that if he has admitted there were it would have made things worse.
Feel a bit of sympathy for CJ who is being made the scapegoat when I doubt he has any clout whatsoever

While ownership of both clubs remained with Chapman? This would be ok until a falling out with Tomalin over Holdergate or finances, hence the present apparent impasse. I think that I spot a pattern here King’s Lynn owner Buster Chapman steps back into the breach at the Adrian Flux Arena:King's Lynn stalwart Keith Chapman is stepping back into the breach to ensure the Insure Premiership outfit can continue to operate. The club's owner is urging maximum backing from the fans in difficult times following the shock departure of Alex Brady.(think that we're missing a bit of information there?) Chapman, whose intention had been to relinquish control of the MacInnes Stars and to leave speedway promotion at the end of this season, returns to the UK tomorrow (Wednesday) and will oversee the home clash with Wolverhampton on Thursday. Brady confirmed his decision to quit on Monday evening, and co-promoter Dale Allitt is currently in hospital with illness – leaving the Stars in a tough situation. Rob Lyon will continue to stand in as team manager against Wolves. Chapman said: “If ever there’s a time for everyone to come together for the good of the club, it has to be now. “This is a situation I never envisaged, I wasn’t going to be running the club, but with Alex having taken his decision I’ve had to step back in to ensure we keep running. "But I have to stress things are far from easy or straightforward. “It’s a fact that we now have a team which is over budget, and we’ve absolutely got to get people in to support us to make it work out – plus I’d urge anyone interested in sponsoring us to please get in touch. “I can’t stress enough that this is now one of the most critical periods we have faced, and especially after a great performance from the team at Belle Vue on Monday, this is the time to get behind us – it’s absolutely essential for our future. “I’d also like to wish Dale all the very best. He’s an integral part of the club and does so much work behind the scenes, and we need him back with us and fully recovered.” lynnnews/sport/if-ever-there-s-a-time-for-everyone-to-come-together - Published: 11:29, 13 June 2023
