According to the BSPA website Panthers and Bees don't exist but are amongst the favourites according to Skysports
After an amazing pre-season in the world of Elite League speedway, which has seen Coventry and Peterborough in and out of the league and an on-going debate over the new silencers, it will be a relief to see some action on the track rather than off it!
We now have a league of ten teams so there should be more action than ever and this promises to be one of the most wide open leagues for a long time.
Poole(2/1) are once again the favourites to win the league but after last season, when they topped the table for virtually the whole year only to be toppled by Coventry in the final, punters could be forgiven for giving them a wide berth this time. Rafal Dobrucki is an exciting signing for them but is caught up in the silencers debate in Poland, which could affect his start to the season.
Wolves(7/2) look to have a very strong side capable of challenging for top honours. Freddie Lindgren and Wolves legend Peter Karlsson will take some beating around Monmore Green this season.
Reigning champions Coventry(6/1) very nearly didn't take part this year so still have to confirm their team but with the inclusion of Hans Andersen, backed up by the likes of Eddie Kennet they should have a good year again.
Eastbourne(6/1) have started pre-league with an aggregate win over Poole in a Challenge Cup competition so will be hoping to take that form into the league. Bjarne Pedersen should star for the Eagles this year after signing from Poole.
Peterborough(8/1) were the other team to be caught up in the "will they , won't they take part in the league?" farce but with Nicki Pedersen , one of the best riders in the world, making a return to British racing for them they cannot be discounted this season from winning top honours.
Lakeside(10/1) always enjoy a strong home advantage so if they can get their act together on the road then the play-offs are a possibility. If Adam Shields can stay injury-free he should rack up the points this year.
Swindon(12/1) are going into 2011 without the legend Leigh Adams leading the team but they now have British racing favourite Scott Nicholls, who will be equally tough to beat. They have been rocked by Gregorz Zengotta suffering a broken leg to so will need to find a replacement for him.
Belle Vue(16/1) will be hoping Chris Harris can ride as well for them as he did for Coventry over the years and if he is backed up by the likes of Rory Schlein and Patrick Hougaard their fans will be hopeful of a play-off spot.
Kings Lynn(10/1) are new to the Elite League and with the signing of Grand Prix star Kenneth Bjerre they will be looking to make a stunning debut season to remember.
Birmingham(25/1) are the outsiders in this year's betting but if the team can back up main man Krysztof Kasprzak then they will be looking to make a mockery of those odds.
Scotty's Selection - I'm going to plump for Coventry (6/1) to retain the title. Wouldn't it be amazing if Coventry and Peterborough met in this year's final? Well, stranger things have happened, especially in Elite League Speedway! ;D
