Batchelor’s mind seems made up about his future over here (It's Peterborough or nowhere for Troy Batchelor), but he is now chewing over another major decision. He has to decide whether to return home to Australia to compete in his national championship over the winter. Batchelor sat out the series Down Under last winter but was not considered for a place in the Grand Prix qualifiers as a result. And the recent announcement of a first Grand Prix in New Zealand could provide a further incentive for him to head home. Batchelor added: “I’m sending some equipment back home but I’m undecided whether to do the championship or not as yet. “Everyone knows I want to be in the GP series and going through my national championship is the best way of doing that. “Last winter I felt I needed at the end of a tough season and I bought a house over here as well which took up a lot of my time. “If I want to realise my GP dream I’ve got to go home to race. There is the extra incentive of a wildcard being up for grabs for the GP in New Zealand next year and riding well in Australia during the winter could help someone get that. “I have to weigh up the pros and cons and make my choice.” boroet

Lakeside star Davey Watt has declared himself fighting fit for January’s Australian Championship after overcoming the shoulder problems which hampered him at the end of the 2011 campaign.
The Townsville-born man bravely battled on for Poole, despite crashing hard in their Knockout Cup semi-final against Eastbourne on September 14, and captained them to victory in the Elite League and KO Cup Finals.
Watt admits he was still far from 100 percent when he won the Leigh Adams Benefit meeting at Gillman on November 26.
But he says the summer sun Down Under has done his shoulder the world of good and he can’t wait to fight for his first ever national title, starting at North Brisbane next Saturday.

Round 1: 7 Jan 2012, North Brisbane QLD Poole star Chris Holder says the Australian Championship is far from a two-horse race between him and Davey Watt, after pipping his ex-Pirates team mate to victory in North Brisbane. The 24-year-old, who scored 14 points in his heats, held off a fierce challenge from Watt in the A Final to triumph in round one of the three-meeting series, which moves to Kurri Kurri next Saturday. The Lakeside signing was the only man to beat Holder on the night after leading him home in race five. He finished his heats on 13. Ipswich new boy Rohan Tungate looks set to take the Premier League by storm this year after scorching into the A Final on 13. He then hunted down B Final winner Sam Masters and passed him for third place. Australian international Troy Batchelor endured a disastrous and controversial night after felling Kozza Smith with an extremely over-zealous move in heat eight.
Batchelor dive-bombed the King’s Lynn and Berwick man on the run to the finish, but clattered into him and left Smith in the back of an ambulance nursing a suspected broken femur. The Swindon man also withdrew from the meeting after suffering serious bike problems as he warmed up for race 12 and left his home city with just two championship points. With Holder on 20 and Watt on 18, this all but rules Batchelor out of the running for the Australian title, and possibly the Grand Prix qualification berths available to the top four as well. But even with one of his main rivals out of contention, Holder isn’t just worried about Watt and believes plenty of riders are ready to deny him a fourth national crown. He said: “I wouldn’t say it’s a two-horse race; the points are tight. I’m only two up after this one. It means nothing and you’ve got to make the top two every time. “Rohan and Sam are Kurri boys, so I wouldn’t write them off. Rohan was born and bred in Kurri. He’s going really well and so are all the boys. This meeting wasn’t easy; that’s for sure. “Being a GP rider is just a tag you get and there’s probably more pressure on me if I don’t go out and win. People think there’s a problem. I get pretty nervous because all the boys are fast. I do every race like it’s a final and it’s definitely not easy.” Watt finished third behind Cory Gathercole and Todd Kurtz in heat nine and this cost him first choice of gates for the A Final. Holder admits his extra point made all the difference. He said: “Watty was flying. He had a good setup. In the final, we were off gates one and two. Whoever made the start and rode the right line was going to be okay and it worked out well. I’m happy with that. “That’s why you ride hard in the heats; to make sure you get first choice in the finals. If he’d had first choice, he might have had the win. “I could hear him chasing me, though. I tried to run a little bit wide on the first lap and he was hitting those ruts. I thought I’d better get on the inside and after that, it was okay. I just held that line and he would have had to run through me to get past.” AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS (AFTER ONE ROUND OF THREE): 1 Chris Holder 20, 2 Davey Watt 18, 3 Rohan Tungate 17, 4 Sam Masters 16, 5 Justin Sedgmen 15, 6 Cameron Woodward 14, 7 Taylor Poole 13, 8 Cory Gathercole 12, 9 Daine Stevens 11, 10 Todd Kurtz 10, 11 Kozza Smith 9, 12 Robert Ksiezak 7, 13 James Holder 6, 14 Michael Dyer 4, 15 Jake Anderson 3, 16 Troy Batchelor 2. NORTH BRISBANE HEAT SCORES: Chris Holder 14, Davey Watt 13, Rohan Tungate 12, Cameron Woodward 12, Justin Sedgmen 9, Taylor Poole 9, Sam Masters 9, Cory Gathercole 8, Daine Stevens 8, Todd Kurtz 8, Kozza Smith 4, Robert Ksiezak 3, James Holder 3, Jake Anderson 2, Troy Batchelor 2. B FINAL: Masters, Sedgmen, Woodward, Poole. A FINAL: Holder, Watt, Tungate, Masters. www.speedwaygp

Australian international Troy Batchelor endured a disastrous and controversial night after felling Kozza Smith with an extremely over-zealous move in heat eight. Is this "over-zealous" To be fair I have seen worse, Pedersen for example on his own team mates this year at Alwalton. Shame about Kozza getting hurt, despite what a few of the Lynn fans say on the BSF he was easily there best reserve for 2012 so leaves quite a hole I reckon.

Swindon star Troy Batchelor defended himself over the last-bend move which resulted in Kozza Smith suffering a broken leg in the Australian Championship opener at North Brisbane on Saturday.
The Aussie international aggravated the back injury he suffered last month in the crash and will take no further part in the three-meeting national series.
Batchelor clashed with Smith on the run to the finish line in heat eight. This was after he gave the King’s Lynn and Berwick man a ruthless shove going into the final turn.
Neither rider fell in the first collision, but they came together on the run to the finish line and Smith was taken to a Brisbane hospital, where he underwent surgery to pin a broken femur on Sunday.
The incident made Batchelor the villain of the peace in his own home city. While he admits he gave Smith “a knock”, he doesn’t feel he did anything wrong in what he sees as “just a racing incident.”
Asked if he felt he was overly hard on Smith, Batchelor replied: “No, if anything, I passed him going into the corner and if he was going to fall off, it should have been straight away.
“But he stayed on and I obviously didn’t nudge him enough to make him fall off. I took the lead then me and him came together. I was obviously in front when we crashed because his front wheel went into my foot peg – that’s why we crashed.
“He wrecked my night; I wrecked his night and it’s just one of those things.
“The first knock was the hardest and that was the only one from me. I knocked into him, I passed him and then we came together across the line. I was in front when we came together.
“I’ve had harder hits from Nicki Pedersen – my own team mate. And that’s when we were racing together.
"Kozza has got a broken leg, he came off worst and if it was me, I’d be feeling pretty sad too.
"But these things happen and he knows that. He has had a broken leg before and it’s just racing. I’ve had a broken back.”
Batchelor scored just two points from the North Brisbane round, leaving him with virtually no chance of becoming Aussie champion, or even snatching one of the four SGP qualifier berths up for grabs.
With these goals now beyond him, he is determined to be ready to race for Swindon, Hammarby and Leszno upon his return to Europe.
He said: “That’s the reason why I have pulled out. I’ve hurt my back and I don’t want to risk it. I’ve got a business to think of.”

The two-time defending Champion was unbeaten from start to finish, taking a maximum 15 points from the heats before holding off the determine efforts of Cameron Woodward, Davey Watt and Sam Masters in the Final. In a brilliant night of racing at Loxford Park, Holder and Speedway World Cup teammate Watt had the best of the early goings before Watt came unstuck. A third behind Holder and Taylor Poole in his third heat was followed by a DNF and had Watt in danger of missing the B Final. A win in his final heat ensured a B Final appearance as Holder, Woodward and Masters booked there passages straight to the A Final. Watt faced Poole, Corey Gathercole and local star Rohan Tungate in the B Final and did not disappoint, taking charge early to win his way through. A brilliant start from Holder ensured he would not be challenged and claimed back-to-back round wins and establish a five-point lead heading into the final round at Gillman Speedway in Adelaide on Saturday 21 January. 2012 Australian Solo Speedway ChampionshipRound Two Heat Scores: Chris Holder 15 points; Sam Masters 13; Cameron Woodward 11; Davey Watt, Taylor Poole, Corey Gathercole 10; Rohan Tungate 9; Justin Sedgmen 8; Jack Holder, Jake Anderson7; Todd Kurtz 6; Robert Ksiezak 5; Harley Horwood 4; Michael Dyer 3; Joey Ringwood, Daine Stevens 1. Toys out of the pram or genuine injury Troy Batchelor is out of the 2012 Australian Solo Speedway Championship, succumbing a back complaint he reinjured during the opening round in North Brisbane. A hero of Australia’s Silver Medal performance at the 2011 Speedway World Cup, Batchelor was involved in a crash in the opening round that left Kozza Smith with a broken leg, and re-injured a back complaint suffered before Christmas. Hoping to be fit to compete in the remainder of the Championship Batchelor ruled himself out on Thursday, ruling himself out of the chance to claim his first Australian Championship. The absence of Batchelor has opened the door for another Aussie rider, with Joey Ringwood earning the opportunity to ride in the remaining rounds of the Championship, starting on Saturday night in Kurri Kurri. both from www.ma.org.au

Batch beat Holder easily last time he rode fully fit in Aus championships. Him and Holder rode against each other 5 times. = 5 Troy Batchelor wins. So you're saying that the man who is on course for consecutive titles and is a consitent performer in the SGP isn't as good as somoene who is still trying to get to that standard It's a wonder why we chose Bjerre over Batchelor considering the whining aussies apparent talent

Chris Holder steamrollered his way to his fourth Australian title to lift the Duke of Edinburgh Trophy and complete a whitewash of round victories when he went through the Gillman card unbeaten.
The victory for Holder was his second successive 6 ride unbeaten sequence in this year's championship, with his only race defeat coming in the opening round in North Brisbane when he was beaten in his second ride by Dave Watt.
Holder simply dominated the championship and the title is his third on the bounce - his fourth in a span of just five years.
Sam Masters for the third time finished fourth having gained the right to appear alongside the championship top 3 of Holder, Watt and Cameron Woodward in the Adelaide A final, after scoring 10 points from his heats. Doubling-up Masters finished overall fourth in the series having missed out on a rostrum finish ns each round.
Todd Kurtz, who will also line up for the Pirates in 2012 opened his night in Gillman with a race win but was only able to add two more points to his total.
