The first FIM Speedway Grand Prix held at Leszno was on 10 May 2008. The Alfred Smoczyk Stadium in Leszno hosts its fifth FIM European Speedway Grand Prix in 2012. Leszno is the fourth Polish venue to host the FIM European Speedway Grand Prix, after Bydgoszcz (2000), Chorzow (2002 & 2003) and Wroclaw (2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007). The 2012 FIM European Grand Prix will be the 12th FIM European Speedway Grand Prix. Unia Leszno, the host of the 2012 FIM European Speedway Grand Prix is one of the oldest speedway clubs in Poland. Good GP and well pleased that someone other than the Poles or Hancock won. Interesting that their was words between Gollob and Hampel, Gollob looked well pissed of with his reception from the supporters. Was reliably told that Hampel clocked Gollob one in the pits.

Apart from Darcy Ward (the sort of face you'd never tired of hitting?) a decent vid "If you ever ride speedway and want the biggest buzz then you've got to ride Poland" - UK well down the pecking order these days
