SMALL SCREEN STARS
Grand Prix foes Tomasz Gollob and Nicki Pedersen admit they enjoyed the chance to lock elbows again while filming this year’s FIM British SGP ticket advert.
The commercial, which also features Chris Harris and Chris Holder, premiered on Sky Sports 2’s coverage of the Elite League thriller between Birmingham and Poole on Monday night.
Gollob and Pedersen join their rivals on the couch to watch some SGP action, but their competitive edge gets the better of them.
The duo exchange evil glances before an epic battle of elbows ensues as the Gorzow team mates fight their way into the first corner at the Millennium Stadium.
But they quickly realise doing it aboard a sofa is not the same as being on their 500cc monsters and make a break for the stadium.
The action took place in sleepy Bedfordshire village Silsoe inside a show home owned by house building group Miller Homes, who provided a second property for the SGP stars to relax in next door
Gollob and Pedersen are well known for being huge rivals on the track. But the Polish hero clearly enjoyed spending time with the Dane away from the SGP’s pressure-cooker environment.
He said: “I was able to look Nicki in the eye many times when we filmed the commercial, but it will definitely be more serious when we get to Leszno next month.”
Pedersen also played his part to perfection and admitted: “It’s always nice to be involved in these commercials. It’s good for me and good for the sport. I like to be on my bike and race it, but this is part of the job. I always try to be myself and if that can help the sport, it’s even better.”
Holder provides the voiceover and was shocked by the amount of time and effort involved in creating 30 seconds of television.
He said: “This was certainly different. It’s another side to doing speedway and one that you don’t really think about.
“It was pretty cool to check it out and see how it all happens. I’ve never done a TV commercial and didn’t realise how much work they put into it in terms of how long it takes and what they have to do. It’s crazy. It was good fun and it was cool to be a part of it.”
Harris did not have a speaking part in the advert, but enjoyed his day eating crisps alongside Gollob, Pedersen and Holder.
He said: “It got me out of the workshop and the house for a bit. I had the chance to catch up with the boys and have a laugh for the day. It was great fun.”
Those who missed the advert on Sky Sports last night, or live outside of the UK, can view it now via Access All Areas.

Polish hero Tomasz Gollob is desperate to claim a gold medal at the FIM British Grand Prix in Cardiff as he fights to retain the World Championship this year.
In his fabled career, the 39-year-old has won rounds at six of the current 11 SGP venues and has topped the rostrum at 20 events since the Grand Prix series was introduced in 1995. But one gap in his impressive CV is a victory in the Millennium Stadium.
Gollob topped the heat scorechart with 12 points in the Welsh capital last year, but his night was cruelly ended when he suffered an ignition failure while leading his semi-final.
The Bydgoszcz-born racer’s best result there to date is when he claimed third place at the first ever Cardiff SGP round in 2001. But Gollob is determined to win the competition’s flagship event this year.
He said: “It’s a very specific track and I’m always unlucky there. I always have some kind of engine failure or problems at that track. Hopefully this will be my year.”
Gollob's motivation to be the best is not diminishing with age.
He said: “I have no lack of motivation. It’s the exact opposite. I’ve got a lot of motivation to defend the title and win another one. Winning the title has allowed me to fulfil myself as a sportsperson and it has mobilised me to work harder. I feel fantastic.”

NICKI Pedersen is on track to win his fourth World Championship. And one of the biggest dates in his calendar is the British Grand Prix at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on Saturday, 25th June. He won the opening round and will be bidding to claim his second British win, his first coming at the Welsh stadium in 2003. So why not make it a date by being among the big crowd watching the showpiece of the UK season. Once again Peterborough Speedway are able to offer you a trouble-free, hassle-less trip. Why get frustrated looking for a car park spot, why get agitated as you burn up the fuel stuck in traffic, why wonder if you’ve got enough time to stop off for a cup of coffee. There’ll also be time to wander around the city centre – the stadium is literally a couple of minutes’ walk from all the amenities – before the meeting starts at five o’clock. Peterborough Speedway are laying on coaches that will get you there and back without any worries and there’s the added plus that you can talk about Nicki’s chances with fellow Readypower Panthers fans all the way there and then analyse and decide where things went right or wrong on the way back. Numbers are limited and bookings will be taken on a strictly first come, first served basis. PACKAGES: Package 1 – Coach Travel with Upper Tier Ticket £65. Package 2 – Coach Travel with Middle Tier Ticket £90. Ticket Only – Upper Tier £35. Ticket Only – Middle Tier £60. Coach Travel Only - £30. All packages are per person and you can download an application form from the official website or book at the Peterborough Speedway Office at the interval or after the meeting. All applications are accepted with the full balance or a NON refundable deposit of £30 per person, balance due by 13th June 2011. The coach will leave the East of England Showground at 9.30am on 25th June 2011 and will depart Cardiff centre within 1 hour of the trophy presentation. peterborough speedway official website

I'm giving it a miss. Over priced and over in Wales. No thanks.

GP, hah there's only one GP's that matter, well two actually F1 and motoGP If you've never been it's great but after you've seen it it loses its sting and is better watched on Sky. For many it's a day out and social with 23 mins of speedway. If fans want to fork out a fortune for that the that's their choice F1 I agree with but Moto GP, do me a favour. Considering there's a GP at Silverstone you'd be hard pressed to find any interest over the last two days. It's only just about got a mention today if you listen hard. Talksport has just given out news about the IOW festival and the sweaty playing tennis but naff all about Moto GP, not even heavy traffic on the A43

Gutted, dont think I will go now ;-) I wasn't going either but when Tatum said that we could meet moley I put my holiday on hold. It's got to be worth the time and money to meet this guy: Knowing my luck moley will be unavailable and they'll substitute him with Keith (bigger and better every year) Huewen, Kelvin (how did he stay on the motorbike) Tatum or Nigel (I do not believe what I'm seeing) Pearson

No mention on Talksport news of this taking place although women's cricket got a mention Is it any wonder crowds are crap when speedway barely registars on the sporting radar And why do you think that is then? Maybe something to do with the amateurs from Rugby running the sport? Women's cricket is of course backed by the ECB which has a global media strategy.

backed nicki at 14s and jonnson at 28s Just done Pedersen, Sayfutdinov & Harris to score over 8. I did AJ last year, wouldn't go near the bloke in GPs. Still don't think Pedersen is making starts and/or quick enough in this company (should make the semi though!) You said that you were going to back JC (Jason Crump/Jesus Christ, spot the difference?), never change your mind, you should know that as a gambler
