Posh v Barnsley: The Match Preview
Peterborough United host Barnsley at London Road in npower Championship action on Saturday afternoon (3pm) knowing that a win is likely to take them back into the top half of the table.
After the unfortunate 3-2 defeat at Reading on Tuesday night, boss Darren Ferguson will be hoping his team bounce back against the Tykes, who will be buoyed by last weekend's impressive victory at local rivals Leeds United.
TEAM NEWS
Posh are without the services of long-term injury victim David Hibbert, while Scott Wootton is still a week away from being available for selection. Mark Little is in the squad and could feature with Tom Kennedy unavailable for the clash at Leicester City next week due to the terms of his loan agreement.
Barnsley will be without suspended midfielder David Perkins for the home game with Peterborough. Perkins, a virtual ever-present in the side since arriving on a free transfer from Colchester in the summer, was sent off for two yellow card offences in last week's win at Leeds and sits out a one-game ban.
Danny Drinkwater, on loan from Manchester United, is expected to step up from the substitutes' bench in Perkins' absence. Striker Andy Gray will return to the squad after missing the last two games due to an Achilles tendon injury.
Gray is likely to return to the bench as manager Keith Hill already has a welcome selection dilemma up front with Nile Ranger, who made his debut last week as a second-half substitute following his arrival from Newcastle, vying with Craig Davies, Ricardo Vaz Te and Danny Haynes for a place in the starting line-up. Hill, whose side are chasing a third straight league win, has no new injury problems.
