Defending FIM Speedway Under-21 world champion Maciej Janowski hit the front in this year’s title race after winning the second round of the final in Lendava on Saturday.

WORLD UNDER-21 FINAL PREVIEWSPEEDWAY’S outstanding young talents will be on show at Brandon on Friday as Coventry hosts the World Under 21 Final (round 3). It will be the first FIM event to be staged at the venue since the Grand Prix Challenge of 2009, and the first time this particular meeting has been run here since 1991 when, as a one-off Final, future Bees captain Brian Andersen took the honours. In 2012, the competition runs over a seven-round series, finishing in Argentina in November, and from the two rounds staged so far in Italy and Slovenia, reigning champion Maciej Janowksi has established a narrow advantage. Janowski leads Mikkel B Jensen by just one point, and in fact only four points cover the top five riders, with Michael Jepsen Jensen, Przemyslaw Pawlicki and Bartosz Zmarzlik also very much in contention. The two Jensens starred for Denmark in the recent World Cup, 17-year-old Zmarzlik was a sensational third in the Polish Grand Prix when he appeared as a Wild Card, whilst the return to Brandon of Pawlicki and his younger brother Piotr is eagerly anticipated. British interest in the meeting centres around Tom Perry and Kyle Newman, the duo having been named as Wild Cards and having the opportunity to gain valuable experience at this level, and hopefully take a few top scalps. Richie Worrall, who qualified for the full series, is unfortunately still ruled out with a broken leg, but Australian rider Sam Masters is another familiar name to British supporters. The format of the meeting is a 20-heat individual, with the riders carrying their scores from those races through the competition. Should riders be tied for first, second or third places, run-offs will be used to determine finishing positions on the night. Gates open at 6pm with the parade at 7.30 and the first race at 7.45 (last race 10.45) Admission prices are £20 adults, £16 concessions and £6 children, with under-5s free. Coventry season tickets do not apply as this is an FIM event. WORLD UNDER-21 FINAL ROUND 3: Aleksandr Loktaev, Kyle Newman, Nicolaj B Jakobsen, Mikkel B Jensen, Vaclav Milik, Tobiasz Musielak, Patryk Dudek, Michael Jepsen Jensen, Tom Perry, Bartosz Zmarzlik, Przemyslaw Pawlicki, Damian Adamczak, Maciej Janowski, Mikkel Michelsen, Sam Masters, Piotr Pawlicki. beesweb (apart from the last race bit )

He does it again, Boy Wonder won with 14 points. Take a bow son. I would be more impressed if he scored 14 pts for the Panthers Monday night

I would be more impressed if he scored 14 pts for the Panthers Monday night It's the old Panthers in wherever situation, we don't care to any great extent what he does for himself, how thick do you have to be not to get that Having said that, THJ has lasted longer than expected - I'm getting the kindling ready as I feel we're getting close

SGP state that Przemyslaw Pawlicki broke his leg in the Polish U21 Final yesterday so thats another serious rival out of the picture, looking like its down to MJJ and Janowski now.
