Danish starlet Michael Jepsen Jensen snatched Maciej Janowski’s FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship by one point in an epic final round at Argentine track Bahia Blanca.

Janowski won the meeting with a magical 15-point maximum after passing MJJ to win their head-to-head in heat 11.

But Jepsen Jensen kept his cool and bagged second place behind championship bronze medallist Mikkel B Jensen in race 20 to secure the overall gold after a marathon seven rounds.

The Gorzow, Peterborough, Dackarna and Grindsted man then got the better of Mikkel B by beating him in a run-off for the silver medal on the night after the compatriots finished on 13 apiece.

Jepsen Jensen finished the final series on 90 points and becomes the first Danish world junior champion since Jesper B Monberg bagged the prize in 1997.

His victory also means he is in line to win the FIM Rookie of the Year award at the FIM Gala Ceremony in Monaco on December 2.

Mikkel Michelsen claimed fourth place on the night with 11 points and fourth in the championship on 59. Nicklas Porsing scored seven to move up to fifth overall on 50, meaning Denmark’s juniors occupy four of the top five places.

Nicolaj Busk Jakobsen fell two points short of overhauling the injured Przemyslaw Pawlicki, who has 43, for sixth spot. His eight points took his total to 41.

Pontus Aspgren, who was third in last Saturday’s meeting at Bahia Blanca, bagged 11, along with Czech racer Vaclav Milik.

Hardly unusual though surely? It would be nice to see some recognition (not that I've looked too deeply) but his club associations really are of no real relevance, unless he picks and chooses who he promotes of course

Did Maciej Janowski have anything to do with Kings Lynn on his kevlars

Don't think it really matters as long as he turns up and performs. When Jason Crump was asked (live on Sky) whether Britain could take any credit for his 1995 Hackney SGP triumph he said "not a bit of it". No credit whatsover to the UK, Peterborough or its fans
