Burnley forward Martin Paterson is fit to play after a hamstring injury ruled him out of Northern Ireland's World Cup qualifiers this week.

Striker Danny Ings is still out with a knee injury but could return to action sooner than expected.

Peterborough's Kane Ferdinand could make his full debut and winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing may also play.

Full-back Kgosi Ntlhe will be assessed before kick-off and midfielder Danny Kearns is pushing for a start.

Well we're realising (as if it's any surprise) that the club policy (which I'm not knocking by the way) of buy low and sell at a premium will get you relegated in the Championship, once you start to break up the successful side that got you there.

If Ferguson has a particular Achilles heel then it's his ability to stop his team shipping goals if they are not playing primarily in the opponents penelty box!

After leading for 15 minutes of the first half Peterborough imploded, with Charlie Austin scoring twice in the second half as Burnley ran riot.

"Pure and simple, we're conceding too many goals," said Ferguson. "I either persevere or replace them (the defence).

"I can replace them from within. Unfortunately they're not listening to me.

"It's really unlike me to criticise my players in public. Normally what I say to them in the dressing room is kept in there.

"We simply aren't defending well enough. I've tried different combinations to get it right but it's not been working.

"We've looked at the loan market. I'll talk to the chairman. And I've got other bodies in the building that can start.

"We go through things in training time and time again. If they don't want to listen to it then they won't play.

"It's six defeats in a row. It's embarrassing now and we have to do something about it.

"It's the same old cliches, rolling our sleeves up and so on. We'll pick them up and go again. But I've got some key decisions to make about who to use in defence.

"At 2-1 I thought it was a real opportunity to go and win the game. But if you defend like that you'll get nothing."

Chris McCann headed Burnley in front in the seventh minute but it was all square soon after as Lee Tomlin converted from the penalty spot for Peterborough after a challenge by Jason Shackell on Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.

Three minutes later Peterborough were in front as Mendez-Laing pounced on Tomlin's pass to score, while the same player almost added a third soon after for Posh.

But after going in front Peterborough waved the white flag, with Michael Bostwick turning Austin's low shot into his own goal after the striker was put through by McCann.

Austin will want to claim the goal as his own after adding two in the second half. He slammed Burnley back in front on 74 minutes after poor defending from Peterborough and then completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot

Well we have gone from were good enough to were not good enough, there's a shock and something which all fans were completely aware of from day 1. The things which strike me as odd are the selections of DF.....Tomlin Captain , dropping Gabi sticking with Brisley Signing Bosley for £1m and then playing him out of position And whilst were at it whats happened to Swanson who was seen to be the new hope but hasnt even played 90 mins yet. Perhaps DF needs to look closer to home why the players arent listening.
