Looks like another Polish sponsored attempt to bugger everything up The European Speedway Championship is set to reach new heights in 2013 with a reported €50,000 prize fund that could tempt the FIM Speedway Grand Prix elite to enter.Swedish star Andreas Jonsson has confirmed his interest, while the likes of triple world champion Nicki Pedersen, 2010 world champion Tomasz Gollob and Russian racer Emil Sayfutdinov have also been linked with the series. This year’s competition was won by 2013 SGP series first reserve Ales Dryml, who triumphed ahead of Poland’s Robert Miskowiak and Ukrainian racer Andrey Karpov. But next season’s championship has been given a shot in the arm after a Polish company bought the rights to the series and secured a three-year television deal.Jonsson is ready to challenge for the crown. He told norrteljetidning.se: “I have accepted verbally. I think the whole setup is good and they are trying to raise the prize money for riders in the future. “It is good for both riders and the entire sport with more exposure on television. But the status of the European Championship is not the same as the World Championship. The SGP series is much bigger; a whole different thing.” sgp
