Swindon start the season with assistant manager and ex-Posh boss Mark Cooper in caretaker charge of the first team.
Cooper will be without suspended Nathan Byrne, who picked up two bookings in the play-off semi-final with Brentford and will serve a one-match ban.
Peterborough hope to have Lee Tomlin available after he suffered knee and ankle injuries in pre-season.
Record signing Britt Assombalonga will hope to make his debut while Jack Payne has now signed a permanent deal.

Well it wasn't pretty or as easy as it should have been but job done none the less, which is a somewhat better start than last season:
Britt Assombalonga scored on his debut as Peterborough started life in League One with a win over Swindon. Signed from Watford for a club-record fee last week, Assombalonga opened his account after 10 minutes with a volley through a static Swindon defence.
Tijane Reis, one of six Town debutants, and Massimo Luongo were denied by Posh keeper Bobby Olejnik.
Tommy Rowe came close to doubling Peterborough's score, but his rasping 20-yard shot hit the woodwork.
Assombalonga's strike ensured a losing return to London Road for Swindon caretaker boss Mark Cooper, who is in temporary charge following Kevin MacDonald's departure last month.

Andy Warren @andywarrenJust back from Peterborough, and I have to say I was very very impressed with Swindon today. Obvious areas to work on, but plenty of promiseThought they were poor and allowed to look adequate by Posh

Give it time and we will steamroller teams like Swindon (as long as we do something with Barnett!!!!!).

Give it time and we will steamroller teams like Swindon (as long as we do something with Barnett!!!!!). Was still more difficult than it should have been. Ferguson should have brought off Barnett & brought on Sinclair, got the ball forward quicker and put Swindon on the back foot. That's what he'd have done if Swindon had equalised (which they came too bloody close to doing) so why not be proactive. We also had a spare sub with 4 mins injury time. Get him on. It breaks up the game and refs never make time allowances.
