Serious injury brings an early end to Scorpions' victory over Berwick (Scunthorpe Telegraph Friday, August 02, 2013)
SCUNTHORPE Scorpions meeting with Berwick Bandits tonight was abandoned following a serious injury to visiting rider Ricky Ashworth.
Ashworth flew into the fence during the third lap of heat 11 while trying to get past Scorpions reserve Ryan Douglas and needed lengthy treatment from paramedics before being taken to hospital by ambulance.

RICKY Ashworth remains in intensive care in Hull Royal Infirmary following his crash at Scunthorpe earlier this month.
The BSPA are liasing with Ashworth’s club Berwick, Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund and the SCB to give all possible assistance to help and support his family. Ricky Ashworth wristbands, listed on Ebay, are available from the Berwick Bandits 2012 Group.
Management Committee member David Hoggart said: “Ricky's overall situation remains ostensibly unchanged, he is still asleep. He is undergoing wake up trials with encouraging results but there is still a long way to go.
“His family are, of course, enduring a torrid time and are overwhelmed by the messages of support. His step-mum told me that everyone has been so kind and they have asked for their thanks to be passed on.
“She has also praised the medical team who are providing round-the-clock care and feels that the family will never be able to thank them
