TEAM NEWS
Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson has said he will definitely make changes to his side. Mark Little is set to come into starting XI, with Grant McCann and Kgosi Ntlhe set to be rested. Reading boss Nigel Adkins is still without the injured trio of Jimmy Kebe, Mikele Leigertwood and Jason Roberts. Kaspars Gorkss and Adrian Mariappa could make their first appearances of the season, while Danny Williams is in line to make his full debut.
MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
They met at exactly the same stage last season; Reading 3-2 won at the Madejski Stadium. All five goals were scored within the first 38 minutes. This is the seventh time that they have met in the League Cup. Peterborough have won two and Reading four of the previous six.
Peterborough have won all five of their matches this season, scoring 17 goals in the process. Lee Tomlin has been involved in nine goals (five goals, four assists) in his last five League Cup appearances for Peterborough. Posh's best result in the League Cup in the last ten seasons was reaching the fourth round in 2009-10.
Reading were given a bye in the first round of the Capital One Cup. They were knocked out of the competition last year in the third round after they lost an extraordinary match against Arsenal 7-5. Reading, who were at home, had been 4-0 up after 37 minutes. The Royals have netted 11 times in their last three Capital One Cup ties, although, they've conceded 11 as well.

Lee Tomlin netted a hat-trick as League One pacesetters Peterborough crushed Championship side Reading in the second round of the Capital One Cup. Britt Assombalonga fired past Royals keeper Adam Federici to start the rout. It was 3-0 by the interval, courtesy of Tomlin's 25-yard shot and a fine individual effort from Danny Swanson. Striker Tomlin completed his treble with two penalties, before Jack Payne's first goal for Posh, again from 25 yards, rounded off the scoring. Darren Ferguson's Peterborough have now won all six of the matches they have played in all competitions so far this season, scoring 23 goals in the process.
