If youv'e not seen the EL 2014 you can see what we're missing, or not, tonight (14/4/14):
Poole v Coventry - Elite League - Sky Sports 2 HD (20:00)
Poole fans have a custom of turning out in force for returning heroes and they will have an opportunity to do so again on Monday night when the Pirates host the visit of Coventry in the quest for league points.
283 days after sustaining serious injuries in his last appearance in Poole colours, 2012 World champion Chris Holder returns to the Pirates' fold on Monday as the Dorset side look to build on their opening three league points gained 5 days ago against Eastbourne.
And ironically Holder will be facing the same club Opposition this time around as when he sustained his catalogue of injuries last July.
This term the Coventry Bees have already been picking up points on the road this season, banking four points with a 36-26 aborted win at Swindon, and a consolation point against Birmingham where they went down by just two race points (46-44). Masterminding the Bees will be former Poole skipper Gary Havelock who has already enjoyed a 'big night' at Wimborne Road this season with his racing Farwell meeting, and the 1992 world champion who is now focusing his skills and knowledge as team manager, will be placing his faith in Poole specialist Chris Harris and former Poole riders Hans Andersen and Kyle Howarth.
Poole though will be far from unsettled with the inclusion of the ever popular Holder, a replacement for Darcy Ward who was injured during the opening GP of the season and will be keen to maintain the momentum provided by their solid performance against Eastbourne.
Poole boss Matt Ford is ecstatic at being able to recall Holder "I’m proud and excited to welcome back Chris Holder to Poole Speedway – a rider/racer/friend whose true loyalty to Poole Speedway is as strong today as when he made his debut in Heat 4 in the blue and white against Lakeside over six years ago, winning his first race and returning 10 points from four rides. A man who looks as much at home in Pirates kevlars as he does in a pair of jeans. A man who can kiss the Pirates badge with pride and honour."
Holder had decided to opt out of Britain’s Elite League in 2014 to concentrate on his Grand Prix commitments and racing in Europe in Sweden and Poland, but always swore that he would return to Poole if they needed him at any time. "we have seen some great homecomings at this venue in my time and I really hope that the Poole fans will reserve such a welcome when we announce Chris on Monday. We saw him settle in nicely in the New Zealand GP and if he can keep that sort of form going then alongside Shamek (Pawlicki), Magic (Janowski) and Vaclav (Milik) we will have a real solid top order. But Coventry are going to be provide some difficult opposition, everyone knows how well Bomber Harris flies round our track and I have always rated Hans Andersen as a top notch scorer so we are preparing ourselves for a tough and exciting encounter.
Monday's meeting will start at the slightly later time of 8pm.
