SGP trio Matej Zagar, Martin Smolinski and Troy Batchelor have been drawn into the FIM Speedway Grand Prix qualifying semi-final at Gorican on June 21.
The World Championship regulars will be determined to take a step closer to guaranteed places in the 2015 competition by reaching the GP Challenge at Lonigo on September 20, where the top three riders earn SGP spots for next year.
They face competition from the likes of former world No.5 Hans Andersen, Danish SGP wild card Peter Kildemand, Polish racers Maciej Janowski and Janusz Kolodziej and local hero Jurica Pavlic.
Swedish stars Tomas H Jonasson and Linus Sundstrom, Danish young gun Mikkel Michelsen and British pair Craig Cook and Danny King also visit the Speedway Stadium Milenium.
Team Great Britain international Chris Harris and Denmark’s Kenneth Bjerre are the Grand Prix representatives at Polish track Czestochowa in the other semi.
They must see off the likes of Polish hotshots Patryk Dudek, Przemyslaw and Piotr Pawlicki and Adrian Miedzinski, as well as Jason Doyle, Peter Ljung, Artem Laguta, Mads Korneliussen, Vaclav Milik, Oliver Berntzon, Nicolai Klindt and Britain’s Lewis Bridger.
The top eight riders from both events will progress, provided Nicolas Covatti finishes in a qualifying position at Gorican.
If he falls short, only seven will go through from one meeting as the Italian federation would then be eligible to nominate a wild card to guarantee them one home representative in the GP Challenge.

Looking forward to more low grade action on Weds as our assets rip up the big boys:
Danish racer Kenneth Bjerre’s 2015 FIM Speedway Grand Prix hopes are burning bright after he won his qualifying semi-final at Czestochowa to reach the GP Challenge at Lonigo on September 20.
The SGP regular topped the rostrum in Poland after winning a four-man run-off with Przemyslaw Pawlicki, Patryk Dudek and Cameron Woodward. All four riders tied on 11 and advance to Italy.
They are joined by Danish stars Nicolai Klindt and Mads Korneliussen, who finished on 10, along with Aussie international Jason Doyle.
SGP regular Chris Harris won a run-off with Sweden’s Oliver Berntzon to claim the reserve berth for Lonigo and will be crossing his fingers for a rider withdrawal to keep his qualification hopes alive.
Polish internationals Adrian Miedzinski and Piotr Pawlicki were shock casualties in their homeland on six and three points respectively.
It was a tough night for the SGP regulars in the second semi at Gorican as only Slovenian speedster Matej Zagar made the cut on nine points.
Germany’s Martin Smolinski had to make do with the reserve berth after winning a run-off with local favourite Jurica Pavlic. The duo ended the meeting on eight. Aussie star Troy Batchelor fell short on seven points.
The semi-final was won by Danish ace Hans Andersen, who topped the scoring on 12.
He is followed to Italy by Swedish rider Linus Sundstrom, who beat former SGP star Janusz Kolodziej in a run-off for second after they tied on 11.
Polish international Maciej Janowski and Swedish hotshot Tomas H Jonasson qualified on 10, while Danish SGP wild card Peter Kildemand made it through on nine.
The 14 GP Challenge qualifiers will be joined in Lonigo by a wild card nominated by the Italian federation and another picked by the FIM.

Looking forward to more low grade action on Weds But to balance that up - from westhamboy66 (BSF 22/6/14) Think the EL fans need a lesson in how weak the EL is compared to the PL.

I looked at the semi final draws yesterday, you have to smile at some of the entries, King, Bridger, Wells, Covatti, Franc, Bellego, Woodward, Berntzon, Milik. Why do these riders even bother, they are just wasting their time.

Chris Harris could still salvage a spot in the 2015 World Championship after being promoted into the GP Challenge at Lonigo on September 20.
The Cornishman has been handed Polish racer Patryk Dudek’s place in the qualifier as he remains provisionally suspended by the PZM after testing positive for a banned substance.
Bomber is currently 15th in the SGP standings on 35 points – 35 short of the top-eight automatic qualification places.
Harris finished fifth in the Challenge at Poole last August – a result which earned him a place in this year’s SGP series after Tomasz Gollob opted out of the competition.
He joins SGP rivals Matej Zagar and Kenneth Bjerre in the field as they all seek to extend their stays at the sport’s top table.
German ace Martin Smolinski is currently first reserve for Lonigo, but could also join the field if any of the current 16 withdraw due to injury, illness or other reasons. With Cameron Woodward nursing a broken thigh, the New Zealand SGP winner is probably in line for a call-up.
Former Grand Prix riders Hans Andersen and Janusz Kolodziej are also in contention along with World Under-21 champion Maciej Janowski, Peter Kildemand, Tomas H Jonasson, Przemyslaw Pawlicki, Jason Doyle, Mads Korneliussen, Linus Sundstrom and Nicolai Klindt.
Italian duo Nicolas Covatti and Mattia Carpanese have been nominated as wild cards for the meeting.
PROVISIONAL GP CHALLENGE LINE-UP (subject to change):
1 Chris Harris 2 Kenneth Bjerre 3 Nicolas Covatti 4 Cameron Woodward 5 Hans Andersen 6 Linus Sundstrom 7 Maciej Janowski 8 Mads Korneliussen 9 Matej Zagar 10 Janusz Kolodziej 11 Mattia Carpanese 12 Peter Kildemand 13 Tomas H. Jonasson 14 Przemyslaw Pawlicki 15 Jason Doyle 16 Nicolai Klindt
R1 Martin Smolinski R2 Oliver Berntzon

Kenneth Bjerre has confirmed he will not take part in the GP Challenge at Lonigo on Saturday as he struggles with a shoulder injury.
The Esbjerg-born rider crashed in the semi-finals of last Saturday’s Nordic SGP at Vojens, partially dislocating his shoulder and suffering ligament damage in the process. He also took a knock to the hip.
The top three riders at the Italian meeting on Saturday will be handed automatic places in the 2015 World Championship.
And with Bjerre currently nine points short of the top eight, this would have taken a massive weight off his shoulders for the final two rounds in Stockholm and Torun.

Would like Kildeman, Doyle and THJ to be the 3. Always get a Smolinski though.

Would like Kildeman, Doyle and THJ to be the 3. Always get a Smolinski though. This is always a hard meeting to call and this years is no different, half the field could qualify but I expect the trappers to get through as Italian tracks are always super slick, don't write Hans off he loves the place and has won a GP there. I expect Zagar and Kildemand to finish on the rostrum although I expect Zagar will make the top 8 in the GP,s anyway, after that it gets more difficult.

Italy always a trappers paradise. He's not competitive enough for GP's now, had his best days - very good they were too.

Paul Burbidge @paul_Burbidge - Congrats to Chris Harris and Jason Doyle. #Speedwaygp riders in 2015! First and second in heat 17. #GPChallenge
If Zagar stays in the #speedwaygp top 8, Janowski qualifies for the 2015 World Championship after finishing 4th on 11 points. #GPChallenge
GP CHALLENGE SCORES: 1 Matej Zagar 13+3, 2 Jason Doyle 13+2, 3 Chris Harris 13+1, 4 Maciej Janowski 11, 5=Nicolas Covatti 10, Tomas H Jonasson 10, Przemyslaw Pawlicki 10, 8 Peter Kildemand 8, 9 Peter Ljung 7, 10 Hans Andersen 6, 11 Nicolai Klindt 5, 12 Linus Sundstrom 5, 13 Oliver Berntzon 4, 14 Janusz Kolodziej 3, 15 Mads Korneliussen 2, 16 Mattia Carpanese 0, 17 Michele Paco Castagna 0, 18 Nicolas Vicentin 0.
So with Harris qualifying but well adrift in the 2014 standings they can justify a wildcard spot for any of the 2014 9-14 finishers.

Good luck to him at least he has earned his place on merit, he just loves to race and never gives up. Shame a few more aren't like him. The real surprise last night was Kildemand, I thought he was nailed on for a place in next years series although he could still get a wildcard.
