Following on from the Brum news we now today have the Eastbourne promoters Dugard, Geer and Bellerby saying they are standing down at the end of the season and appealing for a new promoting body to come in and run Eastbourne in 2015.
Looking at their crowd last night on Sky I have no doubt they lose money every week, who in their right mind would want to watch that crap every week and then go home wearing half the track.
I expect them to be running in the PL next year.

A new promoter or promoters are being sought to run Eastbourne Speedway from next season.
The current promotion of Bob Dugard, Trevor Geer and Mike Bellerby will disband once this year’s fixtures have been completed.
They have advised the British Speedway Promoters’ Association (BSPA) of the promotional change.
Dugard, who owns the promoting rights for Eastbourne with his brother Eric, said he did not wish to continue with the financial commitments and responsibilities of running the Eagles on a day-to-day basis.
He is aged 72 and in the last couple of years has undergone major heart surgery.
In addition, earlier this season it can now be revealed that Mike Bellerby told Dugard he would be standing down as co-promoter of the Eagles at the end of the season.
Dugard said: “The personal circumstances of the current promotion and difficult trading resulting in a projected large loss this year means we are unable to commit to running speedway at Arlington Stadium in 2015.
“I am looking for someone, or a consortium, to take over the rights to run speedway here at Eastbourne.
“We have worked extremely hard this year to promote speedway at Eastbourne and have put together a team which has enjoyed a long run of success on its own track with excellent performances this season at Arlington.
“The efforts of this promotion have met a disappointing response from fans.”
Dugard said the only way forward was for a new promoter or promoters to take over the Eagles.
“New people at the helm will have the opportunity of doing things their way and effectively re-launch the sport at Eastbourne. They will have the opportunity to put their stamp on proceedings and ‘sell’ the sport to a new audience,” he said.
He confirmed that if a new promotion was not found for 2015 the BSPA may be asked to put the Eastbourne licence “on ice” for a year.
The BSPA pre-AGM meeting is due to take place early in September. At this point Eastbourne Speedway is looking to confirm its intentions for 2015.

Sad news on top of Birmingham ,sadly another chapter in the decline of British Speedway. Views expressed here and elsewhere re GP,crowd levels etc have undoubtedly had there effect and it is also quite beyond me how as it would seem in the case of Birmingham those in charge do not see the priority if paying the stadium rent and thus at least securing the venue.
Unfortunately it is also part of the short term view of things taken by BSPA and British Business in general. Always go for the short term fix and never look at the wider picture.
That is why we have Japan Germany and India in control of our motor industry, the French largely owning our utilities and the Chinese shortly to be in control of our airports and nuclear power stations,to say nothing of the numerous ideas and ventures devised in this country yet business refusing to develop them unless they see an immediate profit.

Speedway stadium could be developed for housing And we think £100,000 is a lot: “We have been running at a loss for the last 30 years. “But now we are losing £200,000 pounds a year at the moment,” said Mr Dugard, who owns the stadium together with his 59-year-old brother Eric.
This is always a bugbear of mine at the EoES, that being how inaccessible it is despite being reasonably located: “You need a car to get to the stadium and people don’t have the money. Things are very tight for everyone with the cost of petrol and actually running a car it’s very hard."

Quite apart from the expense of coming by car, if you do not have a car you cannot get to EOES. This may be part of the reason for the lack of youth. If they don't or can't go with their parents and do not have transport of their own they cannot get there.

In todays Speedway Star Bob Dugard says that in his view dropping down to the Premier League is not the solution,as it would only deplete crowd level further. That is exactly what has happened to Panthers.

That is exactly what has happened to Panthers. just because you prefere elite it's blinkering your view (one way), alright some don't go because its premier (instead of elite) but remember there were some shocking attendances in the elite , contrary to what you think Tuesdays is absolute guff ,the presentation is cack ,a lot of people don't trust Horton I suppose we'll get a clearer picture when panthers (if) get some fixtures on a Friday /sundays as to if it's all down to being in the premier

Presentation is rubbish, and there is certainly a deep mistrust of MH. It is also clear that Tuesdays are a real problem to many. I just do not see however that whatever the race day it will produce the extra through the gate that we are told are required. Yes I do prefer Elite League least ways I wish we were still in it. However I still attend every home meeting in Premier and also agree that there is some very good racing.
