Former world champion Chris Holder has withdrawn from the Mitas British FIM Speedway Grand Prix in Cardiff due to injury.
His place in world speedway’s biggest event at the Millennium Stadium will be taken by SGP first series reserve Michael Jepsen Jensen, who dons the No.19 race jacket.
Holder sat out the Danish SGP in Copenhagen on June 28 after undergoing surgery on the broken wrist he suffered in a Danish Super League meeting for Region Varde at home to Holstebro on June 20. He also sustained a neck injury in the spill with Bjarne Pedersen.
The Aussie champ will be desperate to get over the latest in a cruel run of injuries after his year as world No.1 was halted by a serious crash at Coventry in July 2013 which left him temporarily in a wheelchair.
Holder showed phenomenal resolve to bounce back from that tumble and will be gutted to see his World Championship hopes dashed for another year.
Jepsen Jensen took the Sydneysider’s place in Copenhagen and will make the trip to the UK at short notice for his first FIM Speedway Grand Prix appearance on foreign shale.
MJJ won the 2012 Nordic SGP at boyhood track Vojens, as well as the FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship and Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup in the same season. He will be determined to underline his future SGP credentials in Cardiff.

That's the first Cardiff GP which has had no relevance to Peterborough Speedway. Yes we had some assets riding, well Rick and Julie did, but in terms of Panthers 2014, zilch!
A flying start gives Hancock the win after the Crumpmeister pointed out that the roller had gone round over gate 4 and it may be the one to have, and Hancock did! - 9/1, nice work if you can get it.
