Saturday August 16, 2014 Tonight’s Rietumu Bank Latvian FIM Speedway Grand Prix in Riga has been cancelled by the FIM Jury due to safety concerns following adverse weather over the past week.
The event will now be staged at the Lokomotiv Stadium in Daugavpils – venue for last year’s Latvian round – at 3pm local time tomorrow. The FIM has deemed that a practice session will not be necessary.
Tickets for the Riga event will be valid in Daugavpils. If fans are unable to make the event, refunds are available from the agency where you purchased your ticket.
BSI Speedway managing director Paul Bellamy said: “We are very sorry to all the fans who had bought tickets and were looking forward to seeing SGP racing in Riga for the first time. But the safety of the riders is of paramount importance.
“Our attention now turns to making tomorrow’s Rietumu Bank Latvian SGP in Daugavpils a great afternoon for the fans at trackside and watching around the world.”

I see, thanks for that. I wondered why I'd recorded the British GP again?

Well I watched that all of the way through despite football & Columbo being on other stations. Had the lot really: decent races, processional races, crashes, incident and Darcy Ward conducting an alleged brave interview where nobody mentioned alcohol, drunk, piss head or the fact that he'd be putting his and other riders lives more on the line than usual? KK hard as nails to win the meeting after his horrendous first race crash. Hancock looked unbeatable until getting beaten up on the first turn of the final. Pedersen was always in the thick of it and had a great meeting. Bjerre nearly ruined my afternoon but did what he does best when the real pressure is on against quality opposition, he finished last! Woffinden wasn't getting out of the starts and seemed just to be going up and down but not forwards, that shouldn't really happen to the world champion IMHO? Having said that, Hampel also had a shocker and it looks like AJs GP career is drawing to a close with his continuing inconsistency when he's generally poor. On his day AJ was the best, it's a case of unfulfilled potential despite hitting no2 (in Troy Batchelor where did that come from style) once. Also, did that Europsport bloke say that he likes Batchelor? So very much on his own then DAUGAVPILS SCORES: 1 Krzysztof Kasprzak 17, 2 Nicki Pedersen 18, 3 Greg Hancock 16, 4 Kenneth Bjerre 11, 5 Kasts Puodzuks 10, 6 Matej Zagar 9, 7 Tai Woffinden 8, 8 Troy Batchelor 8, 9 Niels-Kristian Iversen 7, 10 Fredrik Lindgren 6, 11 Chris Holder 6, 12 Andreas Jonsson 6, 13 Martin Smolinski 6, 14 Jaroslaw Hampel 4, 15 Chris Harris 3, 16 Andzejs Lebedevs 3, 17 Darcy Ward DQ, 18 Vjaceslavs Giruckis DNR. WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS: 1 Greg Hancock 103 2 Tai Woffinden 98 3 Nicki Pedersen 86
4 Niels-Kristian Iversen 81 5 Krzysztof Kasprzak 76 6 Matej Zagar 75 7 Darcy Ward 75 8 Jaroslaw Hampel 63
9 Fredrik Lindgren 63 10 Chris Holder 61 11 Martin Smolinski 59 12 Troy Batchelor 57 13 Andreas Jonsson 55 14 Kenneth Bjerre 50 15 Chris Harris 29

I thought it was interesting when AJ said in the star the other week he misses racing and all his friends in the uk, funny that now he is washed up in the GP,s.
