World champion Tai Woffinden faces a battle to be fit for the Gorzow SGP next Saturday after suffering a suspected wrist injury when he ploughed through the back-straight fence at Eastbourne tonight.
The 24-year-old was leading heat six when he crashed through the wooden safety barrier just beyond bend two, wiping out two fence panels.
Woffinden was reportedly given oxygen on track and left the stadium in an ambulance.
The full extent of Woffinden’s injuries is yet to be confirmed, but the crash could not have come at a worse time as he trails American star Greg Hancock by only five points in the World Championship race.

Early indications suggest broken bone in hand for #speedway champ Tai Woffinden tonight - also battered and bruised. Bad crash I'm told.

Sadly WC over this season for Tai. Wrong place, wrong time. It’s a tough sport.
