The Edward Jancarz Stadium became the 32nd venue to host a FIM Speedway Grand Prix as the eleveneth and final round of the 2011 series.
It hosts its fourth Speedway Grand Prix in 2014 and had the honour of hosting the 150th FIM Speedway Grand Prix on the 23rd June 2012. The stadium is named after the legendary Polish rider and Gorzow native Edward Jancarz, who passed away in 1992, aged 45. In addition to the stadium being named after him, Jancarz has a monument in the city centre and there is a street that bears his name.

The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) has advised SGP rider Darcy Ward that he is provisionally suspended (with effect from August 28) pursuant to Article 7.5 of the FIM Anti-doping Code.
The decision to provisionally suspend Darcy Ward was taken following the receipt of a report from the FIM Track Racing Commission indicating that the result of an anti-doping control (alcohol test conducted by analysis of breath) carried out by the FIM on the rider at the Grand Prix of Latvia, round of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix World Championship held at Daugavpils on August 17, 2014, revealed the presence of alcohol above the threshold of 0.10g/L as fixed under the FIM Anti-doping Code.
In accordance with Article 8.1.1 of the FIM Anti-doping Code and Article 3.3.2 of the FIM Disciplinary and Arbitration Code, the case will be referred to the FIM International Disciplinary Court (CDI) which will adjudicate on the merits of the case.
For the duration of his Provisional Suspension, Mr Darcy Ward is barred from participating in any competition.
Under the World Anti-Doping Code and the FIM Anti-Doping Code, the FIM is unable to provide any additional information at this time.
The FIM has also confirmed that Ward’s place at the Gorzow FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Poland on Saturday will be taken by first reserve, rider No.19, Michael Jepsen Jensen from Denmark.

World champion Tai Woffinden has admitted defeat in his battle to race in Saturday's Gorzow FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Poland.
The 24-year-old’s withdrawal is subject to confirmation by the FIM Jury.
But the Brit has seen his hopes of retaining the title hit by a broken bone in his left hand. He did two laps in practice at the Edward Jancarz Stadium on Friday afternoon and pulled up due to the pain. "I went out there to see what I could do and I had to pull up after a couple of laps." - Tai Woffinden
"I'm gutted about it but not totally surprised because I knew I was up against it," he said in an official Team Woffinden press release. "I went out there to see what I could do and I had to pull up after a couple of laps. I've done all I can to race.
"I had a local anaesthetic in the hand, I had daily physio, I had ice treatment, I had softer grips on the bike and a different clutch set-up, but it was no good.
"I cannot go out there in the knowledge that I can ride the bike without being a danger to both myself and my fellow competitors. The track was smooth, I felt good in myself but when it came to riding the bike it just got too much.
“This is the logical, but obviously regrettable, decision. Now I have to look at the next round in a fortnight and try and get ready for that."

Can't really see past the top 3 in the betting as the GP injury circus rolls in to town.

same old Kenneth , when the ruts appear Kenneth disappears GUTLESS I think gutless is a bit unfair. He just hasn't got the tough part in his make up to be top notch. It's also the main reason Frost/Mahoney never won anything and why Swales is still trying.

Great GP. Hancocks crash looked awful, could have been so much worse. Top 2 in GP now both have broken hand. Iversen bad knee ligament damage, MRI scan will decide if season over.
Well done to Bart, what a racer - looks a great prospect. Until he rides Lakeside or Belle Vue.
