Jason Doyle is in the box seat after two rounds of the Matt Jones Motorcycles Australian Speedway Solo Championships, he currently leads at the halfway mark seven points clear of second placed Justin Sedgmen. Clayton Beasy has been travelling to all rounds of the Speedway Championship and gives a wrap of the opening two nights for MA below:
Doyle wins Matt Jones Motorcycles Australian Speedway Championship Opener
2015 Grand Prix Qualifier Jason Doyle has taken out round one of the Matt Jones Motorcycles Australian Speedway Solo Championship in Adelaide on Saturday night.
Doyle was clinical throughout his 5 heat races, dropping only one point in his opening ride to Victorian Dakota North, and eclipsing Leigh Adams longstanding track record in his second ride of the night.
In the final, the New South Welshman made use of his first choice of gate position, comfortably beating home Victorian Justin Sedgmen, Rohan Tungate and Dakota North.
Fellow New South Welshman Rohan Tungate looked superb on the Gillman circuit, he too only dropped one point in his heat races finishing on 14.
Justin Sedgmen was forced into the B-final despite finishing the heat races on a respectable 11-points. There, his efficient gating came to the fore beating a stellar field that included fellow Victorian Max Fricke, Chris Holder and Josh Grajczonek.
Recently recruited Poole Pirate rider Dakota North looked sharp all night, however found it too tough coming from the unfavoured gate three in the final.
The surprise of the night was 2012 World Champion Chris Holder. Holder looked to battle machinery and track conditions on the night, which may have hurt his bid for title number 6.
After his first three heat races the Poole rider was only sitting on three points, a gallant win in his final race was the reprieve Holder needed, pipping his way into the B-final ahead of Queenslander Tyson Nelson.
Doyle put to bed the nightmare 2014 Gillman outing, when leading the final he suffered mechanical gremlins resulting in a horrific crash costing him his first Australian Championship.
“After last year going home upside down I’m pleased with it, it’s a great way to start it off the series.” Said Doyle.
The series now makes it way to the home of Australian Solo Speedway, Mildura, for round two of the national titles. The first it’s held since 2011 on Monday the 5th of January.

Doyle continues strong form in Round 2
Jason Doyle closed in on his maiden Australian title by taking out round two of the Matt Jones Motorcycles Australian Speedway Solo Championships held in Mildura on Monday night.
The 2015 grand prix qualifier mirrored his form from Gillman on Saturday night, going through the card as the top point scorer dropping only 2 points in his fourth ride.
Doyle met a familiar face in the final in Chris Holder, who qualified with 12-points. Normality resumed for the 5-times Australian Champion after his horror Gillman outing where he finished on 8-points.
Joining them in the final was local favourite Justin Sedgmen who finished on 12-points. As well as up and coming Queenslander Tyson Nelson who produced a stylish win in the last chance qualifier over Josh Grajczonek, Max Fricke and Sam Masters.
Though Doyle was chased hard in the final, he never looked like losing, beating out Holder, Sedgmen and Nelson in an all the way victory.
Doyle’s 17-point haul goes along with his 18-points gathered in round one to put him 7 clear over nearest rider Justin Sedgmen on 28.
Chris Holder’s 15 point tally from Mildura puts him right back in contention along with Rohan Tungate and Dakota North who are equal on 22.
“It’s a good start to the series but there’s two hard rounds to go and everyone’s taking points off each other, it’s anyone’s game.
“I’m just keeping focused and hopefully I can have a good one next round.” Said Doyle.

Grand Prix star Jason Doyle wrapped up his maiden Australian Championship in style after winning his home round at Kurri Kurri.
Doyle, born in nearby Newcastle, needed just six points to secure the title and, after winning his opener, he wrapped things up in heat five with victory over Max Fricke, Tyson Nelson and Joey Ringwood.
The Leicester, Torun and Dackarna star ended his heats on 14, before charging to victory in the A Final ahead of Sam Masters, Kurri Kurri’s own Rohan Tungate and B Final winner Dakota North. Ironically, the SGP series' new No.69 finished the series on 69 points.
It was a Newcastle one-two in the series as 16 points from Masters, including 13 in the heats, earned him championship silver on 52.
Justin Sedgmen’s 11 in the heats were enough to seal him bronze on 48, despite him finishing third in the B Final. He tied on 48 with Max Fricke, but Sedgmen was awarded third after beating his former Edinburgh team mate in three of the four rounds.
Fricke missed out on A Final after being excluded from the B Final under the two-minute time allowance. He was left with the 11 he scored in the heats. North was fifth overall on 47, with Tungate sixth on 46.
Former world champ Chris Holder finished 10th in the final standings on 23 after crashing out of practice for round three in Undera on Wednesday and dislocating his left wrist.
