Swedish SGP wild card Antonio Lindback is determined to make a permanent FIM Speedway Grand Prix comeback in 2016 as he returns to the series for one night only in Malilla on Saturday.
The former Italian and Torun SGP winner dons the No.16 race jacket at the G&B Arena and is tipped to be a real spoiler after a very impressive start to the season, featuring a Monster Energy FIM Speedway World Cup victory with his country at Vojens last month.
Lindback lines up in the GP Challenge at Rybnik on September 5 and is among the favourites to land one of three qualification places for the 2016 SGP line-up.
The Rio Rocket would love to book his World Championship return, and he’s keen to remind the world of his SGP class in Malilla.
He said: “It’s nice to be back. Of course I want to be back for the whole season. But I’ll take on this meeting, do my best and see what happens.
“To come back and be here in Malilla especially is really nice. My goal is to get to the semis and final. But long term, I want to be back in the SGP series for the whole season. That’s my big goal, but this is the start.
“Of course if I could do well here, it would be really nice. It’s in my home country. The whole season has been really good and I just want to keep it going.”
Lindback opted against practising today after deciding to rest the knee he twisted in round two of the Speedway European Championship at German circuiit Landshut two weeks ago.
He said: “I want to be out there racing, but today I’m taking a relaxing day. My knee is getting better and better, but I’ve had two meetings this week. So I thought I’d take one day off. This is practice. I’ve raced here a few times and I know the track.
“I hope it won’t be a mistake for me not to practice. But I feel it’s more important for me to be 100 percent focused for tomorrow.”

Ok it's D Day. Been playing with the bookies money for 2 seasons. Down to last bet. Difficult to bet against Niki impedersen on home track but decided on NKI to top up account.

Proper speedway on a track with plenty of shale that had to be ridden. That'd be called a ploughed field at the EoES with people questioning their involement in the sport:
45. Greg Hancock (USA) - 1, 3, 3, 0, 1 = 8 + 1 = 9 507. Krzysztof Kasprzak (Pol) - R, 0, R, 0, 0 = 0 3. Nicki Pedersen (Den) - 2, 2, 2, 3, 2 = 11 + 3 + 3 = 17 - winner 108. Tai Woffinden (GB) - 1, 3, 3, 3, 3 = 13 + 2 + 2 = 17 - second 55. Matej Zagar (Slv) - 3, 1, 2, 2, 3 = 11 + 2 + 0 = 13 100. Andreas Jonsson (Swe) - 2, 1, 2, 0, R = 5 23. Chris Holder (Aus) - 3, 3, 1, 1, 2 = 10 + 0 = 10 19. Peter Kildemand(Den) - 0, 2, FX, 1, 0 = 3 75. Troy Batchelor (Aus) - 1, 0, 0, 0, 1 = 2 88. Niels-Kristian Iversen (Den) - 2, 2, 2, 1, 2 = 9 + 1 = 10 37. Chris Harris (GB) - 0, 0, 1, 3, 1 = 5 69. Jason Doyle (Aus) - 3, 0, 3, 2, 3 = 11 + 0 = 11 71. Maciej Janowski (Pol) - 2, 3, 1, 2, 0 = 8 52. Michael Jepsen Jensen (Den) - 0, 1, 3, 2, 1 = 7 30. Thomas H. Jonasson (Swe) - 1, 1, 1, 1, 3 = 7 16. Antonio Lindback (Swe) - 3, 2, 0, 3, 2 = 10 + 3 + 1 = 14 - third
