World Championship leader Tai Woffinden is hoping his good record on temporary FIM Speedway Grand Prix tracks will continue in Horsens this weekend.
The British racer heads into Saturday’s Kjærgaard Danish FIM Speedway Grand Prix at the CASA Arena with a nine-point cushion over Nicki Pedersen in the title race – and 22 over third-placed Greg Hancock.
But it’s only the halfway point of the season and Woffinden is keen to see his fine form continue.
“I’m looking forward to it,” he said. “As with any temporary track you don’t really know what to expect, you just have to get to practice and see what happens.
“But I seem to have a pretty good record on the temporary tracks and I hope that continues in Denmark. Hopefully practice will be good on Friday and I can get the setup right for the meeting itself. That’s the key.”
Woffinden insists he’s delighted with the current position in the title race – but he’s still keeping a low-key attitude.
“It’s only halfway and anything can happen in the next six rounds of the championship,” he said. “I’m just staying as relaxed as possible and doing my own thing.
“One bad GP for Nicki Pedersen or me and it can bring the other guys in third, fourth and fifth back closer to us. And as for the nine-point lead, one poor round for me and it could be gone in one meeting, so there’s a long, long way ahead of us.
“That said, I’d rather be in my position than anyone else’s at this stage of the season, I think it’s cool to be leading, of course it is.”

Another man made track lottery. Relying on Holder to top up the kitty - don't you dare NKI.... Looks like a mini Peterborough with riders generally never off the turn as they ride the circle. Woffinden 9/2 e/w for me. If he makes the rostrom you collect; considerably for 1st but your money back with a few pennies (literally) on top for 2nd or 3rd. Having said that, after P Makin did the business on Early Morning in the first at Haydock, I shall be looking for another horse at Lingfield or Ayr tonight

Well the forum mentalist would have been soiling themselves as Jepsen Jensen nearly got the win. However, the win went to the man who should have been in the series anyway. He was favourite for last season's GP Challenge and should have joined Doyle and Janowski on the night, at the expense of Harris whose GP days should surely be over now. Kildemand certainly should have got a pick over Batchelor & Thomas H. Jonasson after a double F/X at Lonigo.
This GP looked to be heading for a borefest early doors but got better, mainly due to accident & indidents rather than pure speedway. They need to sort out coming off turn 2 though because that's dangerous. They somehow got away without any serious injuries at the meeting but the Kildemand, Pedersen, Zagar accident should focus the mind. In fact Kildemand, Woffinden & MJJ could have all come down in a heap in heat 2. You have to admire their skill, that was so tight.
Their seems to be a common denominator here in that you'd prefer Kildemand not to be in your race. I seem to recall him hitting the deck regularly since he joined the series in Cardiff.
And something that I've been going on about for ages is how it's not always someone's fault and it's silly to have to exclude someone just because the race is stopped. The ref had a get out of jail card here as he tested first bend bunching criteria to the limit as heat 18 piled into the back straight fence.
Tatum and Pearson did their best to apportion blame but couldn't with any confidence. Tatum was looking for something which wasn't there because the rules say that you must; that's stupid! Should be an all 4 back option at any time if a race is stopped.
