Danish international Bjarne Pedersen returns to the British Elite League with Lakeside for 2016.
The Poole asset left struggling Leicester for personal reasons at the start of this season, but has been tempted back to the UK, where he teams up with SGP star Andreas Jonsson.
Pedersen has proved a strong visitor to the Arena-Essex Raceway in years gone by and racked up an astonishing 22 paid 23-point haul there for Poole on July 22, 2005.
Cook is confident Pedersen, who arrives on a 6.55 average, will offer Jonsson the high-scoring support he needs next year.
He said: “Bjarne has an average that has room for considerable improvement, a temperament that will fit well within our team mentality and, most of all, he wanted to ride for this club over others.
“Last season we had our first genuine No.1 rider in several seasons in AJ but lacked the experienced heat leader to back him up and allow our young riders to score freely without the burden of expectation.
“Bjarne, like Davey Watt and PK (Peter Karlsson) before him, fits the mould perfectly.”
Lakeside have also confirmed the departure of team boss Neil Vatcher and plan to announce a new management structure next week.

LAKESIDE Hammers will not compete in the 2017 top flight as negotiations for an extension to the club's rental arrangement with the Arena Essex Raceway are still ongoing.
Consequently, the club cannot confirm its place in the League at the BSPA AGM as required by the sports rules and regulations.
Co-promoter, Jon Cook, said: "This doesn't mean the end of racing by any means as our talks are cordial and in line with every year's timescale.
“However, this year's early AGM and the need for us to look at more weekend dates to avoid the calamitous weekday tunnel toll and A13 road chaos that adversely affected a third of this year's fixtures means we need the right agreement for all parties.
"We understand this news will come as a huge shock to fans but our long term need for our own home, and our will to achieve that goal remain as strong as ever.
“Once we have details in place we will hold a public meeting to update fans as to our intentions for 2017 and beyond."

BSPA NOV 1 2016 Interesting headline, but as far as I can remember Lakeside have never competed in the Elite League, they have always just made the numbers up

BSPA NOV 1 2016 Interesting headline, but as far as I can remember Lakeside have never competed in the Elite League, they have always just made the numbers up They compete up to the point when the away matches ridden catches up to home matches ridden, it's at that point when your observation really rings true.
