As much as it sticks in the throat they get a thread amongst Britain's best in the important league. Sure it'll be underused, much like the Lakeside thread.

RYE House have confirmed they intend to largely retain their Saturday race-night following their elevation to the SGB Premiership.
The Rockets are planning extensive further stadium improvements at Hoddesdon ahead of the new campaign, although the club’s National League team will not compete in 2017.
Co-promoter Steve Jenson said: “We are aiming to maintain Saturday nights as much as we can. We recognise that it is our supporters’ traditional race night, and also the most convenient one for many of them to attend on.
“The Grand Prix calendar means that there will be times when that just won’t be possible – we won’t run when there is a clash – but out of eighteen planned dates we are planning to run between eight and ten meetings on Saturdays and two on Bank Holiday Monday afternoons, with allowance for a couple of Monday evenings for Sky Sports’ live coverage and four-to-six on Wednesdays.”

SGB Premiership newcomers Rye House have pulled off the signing of seven-time British Champion Scott Nicholls. The former title-winner with Ipswich and Coventry joins the Rockets on a 9.23 average having spent the last three seasons with Belle Vue, who reached the top-flight Grand Final in both 2015 and 2016. Nicholls said: “I’m really excited to be here because of the plans that Team BMR have and the outlook that they have. “It’s also good from a personal perspective to have a change of scene and new faces to work with. It helps to keep you fresh and enthusiastic. “I had three good years at Belle Vue, although I feel I will be coming into 2017 on a bit of a false average. I never really found the speed at the new National Stadium, and yet I had what I think was the fourth highest away average in the League!” BSPA

I am sure it is a bad dream, Training track in top flight and Panthers second division.

Can't gate going to a tiddler trick track, how strange RYE House have added the signing of British star Chris Harris as they gear up for their first season in the SGB Premiership. The Rockets, who announced former Belle Vue skipper Scott Nicholls on Monday, will now also include Harris who announced at the end of the season that he was seeking a move from his long-time club Coventry. Co-promoter Steve Jenson said: “The first time I met Chris was during a pre-meeting track walk at this year’s British semi-final at Scunthorpe. I was immediately impressed by the way he talked about the sport, and by his professional credentials. “That stuck with me, and as soon I heard that Chris was looking for a winter move to new pastures I wanted him to be a part of the team. “Like Scott, he is going to be a key part of the squad, and like Scott he is going to bring much more to us than just the points he scores on the track.” bspa AUSTRALIAN stalwart Davey Watt will return to Rye House next season – over a decade after his last spell with the club.Watt, who had a tough 2016 campaign at Poole and then Leicester, is the latest recruit for the Rockets who are preparing for their first season in the top-flight. Co-promoter Steve Jenson said: “Davey actually came to us during this last season asking if we could help him get a Premier League place. That didn’t prove possible, but he also wanted to be part of Team BMR for 2017 regardless of what League we were in. “He’s such a long established rider in this country – we’re talking fifteen years now – and he’s become a permanent resident, which effectively makes him an honorary Brit and ideal for the team spirit we want to build in 2017. “He is also absolutely determined to get back to where he should be. We believe he’s on a false average and is going to push the rest of the top-end to give us another potential No.1.” bspa

And now Stuart Robson.
Is it only me that thinks the team so far is crap, Harris aside I wouldn't touch the others with a barge pole.
It's going to be a very expensive lesson for the management this year.

It's going to be a very expensive lesson for the management this year. Depends what their full 7 looks like and what the rest of the league looks like. Looks like they are trying to save on travel costs by going local, but whether that proves to be counter productive, time will tell. I guess their make-up so far sort of agrees with Chapman's long term vision for the sport? Those named so far wouldn't excite in a quality league but the new SGBP isn't. Andersen replacing Holder at Poole tells you what you need to know about the 2017 top league.

It's going to be a very expensive lesson for the management this year. Under a 'proper' top tier league I would tend to agree. With the drastically diluted product they now have, in addition to now adding track specialist E Kennett they look half decent to me. Adding two NL level reserves will water things down further. Sadly the state of British Speedway today.

Rye House are going to be the 2017 Leicester. They're going to lose a small fortune.

Clearly Belle Vue and Leicesters were not that deep bearing in mind the fall out. Surely it's a simple problem, if you only get 10k income per match this has to cover the rider costs of one home and one away, it's not rocket science. Clearly some or indeed most pay riders well above what they can afford, the simple answer is to create a situation where their are more riders than places and then offer them less per point, at some point riders will accept less or be out of a job.
