Its been fairly heavy rain in Ramsey since 4am this morning, would have thought coupled with Wed downpours track would have been flooded, but see Dick has reported it looked good yesterday, hope we get early updates of the situation. jim

Judging by events last night in Denmark and Swindon perhaps a rain off is the least of our worries.

We can only assume that smoothing the track and giving it a bit of camber might have helped drainage? Main problem is that the met office only gives a small window of potential dryness today which will not be a warm drying period.

Main problem is that the met office only gives a small window of potential dryness today which will not be a warm drying period. I try and provide accurate information and having spent time talking to a close friend (this morning) who works at the Showground both race days and other days, I am more than happy to pass on what he tells me both on here and the BSF. The track was very wet when I spoke to him around 10.30 today but the forecast they had was the rain was stopping around middday (which was accurate) they have then worked on it today and the picture was on the website doesn't look too bad, although I dare say it's a bit damp in places around the white line. If the club wanted to pull it today they could have done first thing with no questions asked, the fact that they are making great efforts to get it on speaks volumes especially bearing in mind the injuries and absences. Possibility of more rain later sometime in the evening is forecast but is by no means certain. The drainage isn't too bad but Dean had pulled the track back before the rain hit so it would have been prepared and packed first which if course helps. I would think the track will be grippy and wet later and hopefully not slick.
