I have copied the latest league table and added the plus and minus points which tend to show a better reflection of who the front runners are, Any points gained on the road are plus whilst any points dropped at home are minus
At the moment Glasgow are well clear and the other members of the current play club are Edinburgh, Ipswich and Sheffield.
Panthers will need several away wins to even get close to the top 4 and will need to start picking up something even if they lose, I rather suspect our two home losses to date could cost us dear come September.
Just one league away win and 3 points from 7 away matches is a very poor return so far.

Looking at it now, Sheffield will replace Redcar (currently 4th) and Panthers will be 5th or 6th. Losing to Newcastle at home was survivable but losing to Sheffield was inexcusable and is really the one that cost them. Panthers woke up when the meeting was lost and then snatched defeat from the jaws of vicory by IMHO somehow picking the wrong gates in heat 15 (doubly not helped of course by Ostrich & Hall losing heat 14 after Panthers had miraculously hit the front in the meeting). Hall beaten by Shanes of course (7. James Shanes (G) - 1 1' 3 1 = 6+1) - how's the protest going Fri 14 Sheffield (7.30pm)HOME Sat 15 Workington Away Sun 16 Redcar (5.00pm) HOME Thu 20 Redcar Away Sun 23 Redcar HOME AUGUST Fri 11 Edinburgh Away Sat 12 Berwick Away Sun 13 Newcastle Away Wed 16 Scunthorpe (7.30pm HOME Sun 20 Scunthorpe Away Thu 24 Ipswich Away Wed 30 Newcastle (7.30pm)HOME SEPTEMBER Sat 02 Workington Away Sun 03 Glasgow (5.00pm) HOME Sun 10 Workington (5.00pm) HOME

Sheffield 14/7/17 - "We need our top five to be at their very best for this one and if they are then there's no reason why we can't come away with at least one league point - but it won't be easy we know that much." Peterborough 14/7/17 - "We are well aware of the fact that we have to make the second half of the season better than the first if we are to make the play-offs." "Peterborough, who sit 10 points off the play-off zone" (club website) - “A few weeks ago we were 15 points off the play-offs and we have now got that gap down by more than half" (P'Boro Today) - using the old Del Trotter play-ff calculator again, no wonder we struggle with team building and protests

Well after tonight's debacle that is the season over on the 14th of July (another year of hurt). Forget the KOC because we have no chance with anybody decent over two legs. The problem apart from supporter's disappointment is the financial implications for the rest of the season. Ged will have severe problems with so many meaningless fixture's that are left. Crowds will be down to the die hards only. Worrying times again !

Panthers team boss has refused to accept that Panthers’ chances of making the play-offs are all but over.
The city team find themselves seven points (now 10 points and will be more) off the top four ahead of a run of almost three weeks without a league fixture. When they do return to action at title-chasers Edinburgh on August 11, it is to start a run of five successive away outings.
Despite a far from ideal set of circumstances, Panthers bosses remain optimistic that the team can make the cut for the end-of-season honours battle. They will keep believing that they can reach the play-offs until it is mathematically impossible to make it.
Panthers are going to need to pick up results on the road to get ourselves up into the top four and will have plenty of opportunities to do that in August. They just have to hope the doubling-up system doesn’t hurt them too much during such a busy run. They only have second-claim to three of their riders - number one Jack Holder, GB star Chris Harris and New Zealand champion Bradley Wilson-Dean - who also race in the SGB Premiership. Holder could also miss September meetings due to his World Under 21 Championship commitments.
Panthers face a race against time to complete their leaguefixtures. The cut-off date for results to count towards the play-offs is currently September 18.
Panthers still have to agree dates for six of their remaining 14 meetings - home clashes against Edinburgh, Workington and Scunthorpe, and away meetings at Glasgow and Workington (twice).

I agree. We are getting close to the ridiculous phase though where an algebraic formula will be needed to make it mathematically possible. We're two weeks from needing a new spin on the remaining fixtures.
