Wilkins gone GRHS!! All reports say he was a thoroughly nice chap with no side to him at all. Very sad to lose a great character, at such a young age. Rarely agreed with his ‘on the spot’ opinions but they were amusing. Understand he had his inner demons but still managed to come across as a nice guy. A sad day.

Wilkins gone GRHS!! All reports say he was a thoroughly nice chap with no side to him at all. I remember someone getting on the wrong side of him on Talksport not long ago and I was taken aback a bit because he was, as you say, 99.99% of the time he was a top sounding bloke. All the sadder when you read this from the Daily Mirror Oct 14 2017: Football legend Ray Wilkins has revealed he has just had the all-clear after undergoing double heart bypass surgery.Leaving Chelsea's training ground yesterday after picking up tickets for today's game against Crystal Palace, he was seen taking a moment to catch his breath. The former England midfielder underwent surgery at the end of July at the Royal Brompton Hospital, Chelsea. He'd gone to have a hayfever injection, but doctors measured his blood pressure as very high and recommended he saw a heart specialist. After seeing two experts, Wilkins said he found out he had two blocked arteries and within 10 days he says he was "sorted out". Wilkins, 61, a former Chelsea coach, was kept in hospital for two weeks due to "a couple of difficulties". He said: "Everything is fine now. I'm getting stronger by the day. It's really no problem at all. "I'm up and about and walking, feeling a lot healthier. "Full recovery is expected to be between six to nine months."
Wilkins added he can't wait to get back to playing golf in the new year once his condition improves.
Very sad considering, RIP Matey (one of Ray's unique sayings).
