I despair of the things put on BSF about this subject Well their Swedish bubble has been burst: BBC 18/12/20 Sweden's government is recommending wearing face masks on public transport during the rush hour, reversing its earlier Covid guidance.
It will also cut from the current eight to four per table the number of people sitting together in restaurants, and ban alcohol sales after 20:00.
PM Stefan Löfven unveiled the measures, which will take effect soon.
Elsewhere in Europe, Italy and Austria are the latest countries to be placed in lockdowns over the Christmas period.
Sweden, which has never imposed a full lockdown, has seen nearly 360,000 cases and 8,000 deaths - many more than its Scandinavian neighbours.
The country had previously been one of only a few nations not to recommend masks in public outside of healthcare settings.
This is despite strong recommendations given by the World Health Organization (WHO).
On Thursday, Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf said the Scandinavian nation "failed" to save lives with its relatively relaxed approach to the coronavirus outbreak.
The monarch made the remarks as part of an annual TV review of the year with the royal family.
Instead of relying on legal sanctions, Sweden appeals to citizens' sense of responsibility and civic duty, and issues only recommendations. There are no sanctions if they are ignored.
However, earlier this week, schools across the Stockholm region were asked to switch to distance learning for 13 to 15-year-olds for the first time as soon as possible. The measure was announced in response to rising Covid-19 cases.
This came a week after a nationwide decision on 7 December to switch to remote learning for those over 16.
And on Monday, new nationwide social-distancing recommendations for the Christmas period came into force, replacing similar region-specific guidelines.

Tier-four restrictions - similar to England's second national lockdown - will apply in all areas in the South East currently in tier three, covering Kent, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Surrey (excluding Waverley), Gosport, Havant, Portsmouth, Rother and Hastings. It will also apply in London (all 32 boroughs and the City of London) and the East of England (Bedford, Central Bedford, Milton Keynes, Luton, Peterborough, Hertfordshire, Essex (excluding Colchester, Uttlesford and Tendring). GuidanceTier 4: Stay at Home What you can and cannot do in areas with a very rapidly rising level of infections, where tighter restrictions are in place from 20 December.

Think that today is the first day that I've lost it with these restrictions. I thought that this was strict but as far as I can see and undertand it only covers PCCs unitary district? - so Farcet, Yaxley, Whiitlesy, Coates, Eastrea are reasonably ok as are Stamford and Deeping - crackers!

Kevin O'Sullivan@TVKev Dec 19
99.5% of Covid victims soon recover. 95% of those listed as having died of Covid had other serious conditions. 53% of fatalities were over 80. Number of people under 40 who perished purely from Covid: 200. Population 67million. Death count 66,000. This is not the bubonic plague!
I think that these stats are available and reliable.Interesting talk with Neil Oliver on Talkradio this morning (on the back of another rulemaker, Sturgeon, being caught out without a muzzle) in which Oliver said that if the virus was as virulent and as these people would have you believe then surely nobody would need to be reminded to wear protection in the first place. Also, Carol McGiffin asking whether they are decimating the hospitality industry and limiting all forms of social contact because they don't want people discussing that the evidence does not justify the actions? Interesting stuff

BBC Cambridgeshire@BBCCambs 23/12/20
From Boxing Day the whole of Cambridgeshire will move to Tier 4 - the toughest coronavirus restrictions. Peterborough will remain in Tier 4.
It is thought that rapidly increasing levels of infection in Cambridgeshire could possibly be a result of the new variant of the disease which is also being seen across London and the South East of England.
Under Tier 4 rules all non-essential shops, hairdressers, cinemas, gyms in Cambridgeshire must close on Boxing Day. Pubs and restaurants must also close but can offer take-away and deliveries.

Have severe doubts that there will be any Speedway this year!! Regarding Covid/ lockdowns etc, no convinced lockdowns work, but more to do with more and more taking no notice, and people treating the the hours before it starts as if it was their last supper. Personally I think that Covid will be with us for ever like colds and flu ,but hopefully in time it will be no more serious than those. ( Yes I know flu can be deadly ) Fair point. In March it was basically the same instruction as now and the streets were all but deserted. Initially the guidelines said that it was an hour's exercise (locally), which for me was a walk with the dog around the estate with no bugger in sight. Then we were able to go in the car as long as your exercise time was longer than journey time. It was nice then to have an isolated walk around the park. It was like that for weeks and weeks. So under basically just as tight restrictions it was like a summer's day at the park today with cars and people (well not quite that full but nothing to indicate that there is a pandemic and people should really be at home). Plenty of people sitting on seats and no Covid marshalls or Police in sight but it wasn't a problem and people were behaving themselves.

I see more people out when I’m walking the dog than I ever did before Lockdown. As you say, very different to the March Ghost Town. Think many people have just got so fed up staring at 4 walls. Had a problem with the car the other day. The RAC took ‘7 HOURS’ to attend stating they are so busy (after lying to me several times). Understand they will have laid a few off but where is everyone going.

Now that the day is basically condensed into a few hours if the weather is ok there seems to be more and more people invading that space. Anyone who gets Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) could have predicted the effect 6 months lockdown already would have on people during the autumn and winter months. Think that I'd bang them an e-mail or something to ask them why are they so busy with what should be less traffic on the road, although you'd hardly notice now. I guess illness, staff shielding, caring/parental responsibilities, possibly some staff on furlough etc has created delays? Seems everything these days comes with a covid delay disclaimer!

Took the boy out for a walk this afternoon. Again, there were so many people out walking, biking, running, driving. There is very little chance of cases decreasing which will play right into the hands of the usual suspects. Its all such a confusing mess. Was thinking about sending an angry email to the RAC but as you say it will just be the predictable excuses, from the poor staff that are working as brain washed robots. Would just be wasting my time. Funnily enough, they sent me a ‘how did we do?’ Survey The best bit was, after 3 hours an RAC van pulled up right next to me. I got out the car and said “great, at last I am saved”. To which the driver replied “sorry, don’t know what you’re talking about, I’ve just pulled in to get a sandwich”. Then drove off. Several hours later The RAC finally arrived to assist my call out - and would you believe it, it was the same sandwich man. You just couldn’t make it up. I had to ask him if Jeremy Beadle was in the back of his van.

Covid Fact Check UK@fact_covid 7/2/21
I’m seeing worrying comments from people that feel taking the Oxford/AZ jab is now pointless.
This is *absolutely* the wrong take: it remains a highly effective vaccine against severe illness for both the original virus AND the UK variant. Most likely the South African one too.
So take whatever vaccine you’re offered - the most important thing is to keep people out of hospitals.
If the vaccines do need to be updated (we don’t know yet), it will happen by autumn. Spring and summer will help keep transmission low until then.
There is no cause for alarm.

This isn't advice, just information for you to take on board or ignore, it's up to you. Wakey wakey!!!!Vitamin D reduces Covid-19 deaths by 60 per cent, a study has found, as MP David Davis today called for the therapy to be rolled out in hospitals immediately to 'save many thousands of lives.' The study evaluated the effectiveness of calcifediol - a Vitamin D3 - on more than 550 people admitted to the Covid-19 wards of the Hospital del Mar in Barcelona, Spain. Subjects were randomly assigned as either recipients of the calcifediol treatment or as controls on admission, before receiving five doses of the vitamin in increasing intervals of two, four, eight and 15 days. The research, published by the Social Science Research Network, found Covid-19 patients given doses of Vitamin D were 80 per cent less likely to require ICU treatment. Those from the University of Barcelona also concluded that 'adjusted results showed a reduced mortality of more than 60 per cent' for those who were given the calcifediol treatment. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9257521/Study-finds-Vitamin-D-reduces-Covid-deaths-60.htmlNHS advice on vitamin DI've been taking one of these a day for the last 16 months: Super strength vitamin D3 tablets for healthy bones, teeth, muscles and immunity. (I haven't got shares in the company )
