Reasonable picks I think: FIM Speedway Grand Prix quartet Artem Laguta, Emil Sayfutdinov, Martin Vaculik and Max Fricke all return for SGP 2021, while Denmark’s Anders Thomsen joins the sport’s elite after next season’s permanent wild cards were revealed.
Full 2021 FIM SPEEDWAY GRAND PRIX LINE-UP (in FIM ranking order – rider numbers to be confirmed):
1. Bartosz Zmarzlik (Poland)
2. Tai Woffinden (Great Britain)
3. Fredrik Lindgren (Sweden)
4. Maciej Janowski (Poland)
5. Leon Madsen (Denmark)
6. Jason Doyle (Australia)
7. Artem Laguta (Russia)
8. Emil Sayfutdinov (Russia)
9. Martin Vaculik (Slovakia)
10. Max Fricke (Australia)
11. Matej Zagar (Slovenia)
12. Anders Thomsen (Denmark)
13. Oliver Berntzon (Sweden) - I get this picture of Mario Jirout when I think of him in the series (slightly better but not too much?).
14. Krzysztof Kasprzak (Poland)
15. Robert Lambert (Great Britain)
16. Wildcard

Poland, the GP saviour, appears in a bad place regarding Covid. Cardiff will very much depend on the results regarding setting people free. I have a horrible feeling, once the shackles are off people will go crazy. I sincerely hope we don’t fall right back down that snake on 99 but I do fear it could happen. Many parts of the World are showing worrying increases. We will be very fortunate if we can have UK holidays this year. No guaranteed sunshine but the break would be most welcome.

You're not wrong:Due to the ongoing impacts of Covid-19 in Germany, the FIM, BSI, DMSB and the local venue have decided to cancel the 2021 German FIM Speedway Grand Prix scheduled to take place at Bergring Arena on May 22, 2021.The decision has been made with the health and safety of our riders, staff and fans in mind. “We are disappointed to have to cancel the German SGP due to the Covid-19 pandemic, making it impossible to run this event as we would have hoped. However, we are still committed to running 11 events in our 2021 season” said Paul Bellamy, Senior Vice President of Motorsports Events at IMG. “We will be announcing more events and dates in the days to come, and thank our fans for their patience while we navigate these unpredictable times.” If you have purchased a ticket to 2021 German FIM Speedway Grand Prix or have a ticket which rolled over from the 2020 event, an email will be sent to you shortly detailing how your refund will be issued. sgp 14/4/21 Due to ongoing social distancing restrictions and uncertainty surrounding the return of large-scale events in Wales, the FIM, BSI and Principality Stadium have decided to cancel the 2021 Adrian Flux British FIM Speedway Grand Prix scheduled to take place on July 17, 2021.“We are extremely disappointed to be cancelling the 2021 British FIM Speedway Grand Prix,” said Paul Bellamy, Senior Vice President of Motorsports Events at IMG. “Our team has been working hard for many months to explore multiple options with the Welsh government and Principality Stadium in the hope of being able to welcome riders and fans back to Cardiff in July. However, sadly due to ongoing uncertainty around social distancing and other event-related restrictions, we are not able to do so. “We know how much this event means to fans and riders, and thank them for their ongoing understanding and support.” Alex Luff, Principality Stadium Group Events Sales and Operations Manager, added: "We've enjoyed 19 years of extraordinary times with the British FIM Speedway Grand Prix, the stadium’s longest-running third-party event outside of international rugby. The team is wonderful to work with and I share in their disappointment in announcing this year’s cancellation. “Motorsport fans have visited us from all over the world for the last two decades; the dedication and enthusiasm for the sport that they bring will be greatly missed this year.” If you have purchased a ticket to the 2021 Adrian Flux British FIM Speedway Grand Prix, an email will be sent to you shortly detailing how your refund will be issued. Although thought they might have waited a few more weeks. Assume the earlier the decision the less financial loss.

Given that this is the roadmap of June 21, I'd not be wanting to take too much risk with this government and its advisors. It's probably fair to say that indoor speedway is a hindrance for once because that's the environment that they see as a significant problem: Social contactBy Step 4 which will take place no earlier than 21 June, the government hopes to be in a position to remove all legal limits on social contact. Business, activities and eventsWe hope to reopen remaining premises, including nightclubs, and ease the restrictions on large events and performances that apply in Step 3. This will be subject to the results of a scientific Events Research Programme to test the outcome of certain pilot events through the spring and summer, where we will trial the use of testing and other techniques to cut the risk of infection. The same Events Research Programme will guide decisions on whether all limits can be removed on weddings and other life events.

What I find difficult to understand is we can’t sit inside the pub - Yet we can sit in a marquee in the pub garden. At Cardiff I would have thought it wouldn’t be too difficult to only allocate every other seat. Assume the problem would be getting everyone in and out. Also several thousand supporters gathering in the town centre before going to the stadium. It would certainly test the vaccine. The first indoor test event with spectators starts today at The World Snooker Championship.

2021 ANLAS CZECH REPUBLIC FIM SPEEDWAY GRAND PRIX SET TO RETURN AS DOUBLE-HEADER ON JULY 16 AND 17.
Due to the ongoing impacts of Covid-19 in Prague, the 2021 Anlas Czech Republic FIM Speedway Grand Prix, scheduled to take place at Marketa Stadium on June 5, has been postponed and will return as a double-header on July 16 and 17.
Each night, riders will compete for the maximum 20 points per SGP round.
Additionally, the FIM Speedway Grand Prix event scheduled to take place on June 19 will be moved to later this year, with the date and venue to be confirmed in due course.
The news follows last week’s announcement that the FIM and BSI are still committed to running 11 SGP events in 2021, following recent cancellations due to Covid-19 restrictions.
The FIM and BSI are working closely with the Marketa Stadium promoter to stage the July events with restricted audience numbers to allow for social distancing, enhanced safety measures, and in accordance with local health and safety regulations.
If you have purchased a ticket to 2021 Anlas Czech Republic FIM Speedway Grand Prix for the original date, an email will be sent to you shortly from TicketPortal.cz detailing how your refund will be issued. Tickets for the double-header weekend will go on sale in early June.

It’s getting less attractive. 2 nights in Prague in July (if it happens) would be quite nice but 2 meetings at that boring track, no thanks.

Great Britain racer Tai Woffinden is set for a stint on the sidelines after suffering a broken shoulder in Wroclaw’s PGE Ekstraliga loss at Grudziadz on Friday April 23.
The triple world champion got caught up with home rider Przemyslaw Pawlicki going into the first turn of heat three. While the crash appeared to happen in near slow-motion, Woffinden hit the deck hard and took no further part in the meeting.
Scans confirmed Woffinden suffered the fracture, but it is currently unclear how long the former Wolverhampton man will be out of action.

True: And the next one: Due to the ongoing impacts of Covid-19 in Poland, the 2021 Warsaw FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Poland, scheduled to take place on August 7, 2021 at the PGE Narodowy stadium has been cancelled. Michał Sikora, President of the Polish Automobile and Motorcycle Association, said: “We are very sorry to have to cancel the event and assessed all possibilities before coming to this tough decision. "Unfortunately, the ongoing pandemic with the restrictions on fans being able to watch safely has made this impossible. "I would like to reassure fans that all tickets for the Warsaw SGP will remain valid or refunds will be issued and we ask for patience and understanding going forward.” Paul Bellamy, Senior Vice President of Motorsports Events at IMG, added: “We’re sad to not be returning to Warsaw in 2021 and know the event will be missed by riders and fans this year. "We fully support the PZM in their decision. The ongoing uncertainty around social distancing, venue capacity and other pandemic-related restrictions posed multiple challenges to staging an event of this scale and installing a temporary track in a multi-purpose stadium.” The FIM Speedway Grand Prix series is set to return on July 16 and 17 as the 2021 season kicks off in Prague with a double-header at the Anlas Czech Republic FIM Speedway Grand Prix, taking place at Marketa Stadium. SGP 20 May 2021 Very bad news. Poland basically saved some form of a World Championship last season. If they are struggling I don’t hold out much hope of a decent series. Pleased I decided not to renew BT Sports, as would only have done for a proper GP Series but the only thing I can see to look forward to is a two day bore fest at Prague. Think I’ll wait until next season as I already have Eurosport.
