Aussie stars Jason Doyle and Jack Holder have given British Speedway a massive boost after Swedish side Vastervik confirmed the riders have pulled out of their 2021 squad.
Both men had agreed terms with the coastal side, but under next year’s PGE Ekstraliga rules in Poland, they can only compete in one other national league. With Doyle and Holder both based in the UK, Vastervik boss Morgan Andersson says they will line up in the SGB Premiership, with JD set to skipper Swindon and Holder ready to make his debut for top-flight newcomers Sheffield.
The news will be hugely welcomed by British Speedway in a winter when clubs feared losing a host of top names due to the Polish restrictions.

Aussie icon Jason Doyle has confirmed he won’t return to Britain’s SGB Premiership for 2021 following Swindon’s withdrawal.
The Robins pulled out of the league due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic and building work taking place at their Abbey Stadium home.
Having signed for Polish champions Leszno, Doyle can only race in one other national league and had planned to compete in the UK, where he is based.
But in a social media post this 13/1/21, he revealed he will now be racing in Sweden.
He wrote: “Absolutely gutted to inform everyone that I won’t be riding in England in the 2021 season. Swindon last week informed me of the sad news that they are not going to compete in the 2021 British season.
“As you are aware, I am a rider who likes to keep busy, so this has left me no choice but to look elsewhere for work. I am lucky to still be offered contracts elsewhere.
“I also feel sorry for my team mates who have been left without a team place this year.
“After careful consideration I have now made my decision to sign a contract in Sweden. Thank you to everyone who has supported me so much in Britain. I hope to see you all in Cardiff for the SGP.”
Doyle is set to line up in the Adrian Flux British SGP at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on July 17 – offering a golden opportunity for his fans in Swindon to get behind him.
It’s unclear where he will race in Sweden this year. Doyle had signed a contract with Vastervik, but withdrew from their squad to compete for Swindon when Poland’s restrictions were imposed.
His departure from the SGB Premiership means that, as things stand, no SGP riders will compete full-time in the UK this year.
