THE revised line-up has been announced for Saturday’s (October 31st @ 7pm) National League Riders Championship at Rye House, which is sponsored once again by www.hireacanalboat.co.uk.
Rye House supporters will finally have a chance to see Jay Herne in action. Bournemouth’s Australian star was targeted for a Premier League spot with the Silver Rockets last month and finished third in this event last year. He steps in for injured team-mate James Brundle.
Former Somerset, Reading and Berwick rider Danny Warwick has also been added to the field. “The Dreaded One” – now with the Isle of Wight – has been named as the replacement for homeward-bound Aussie Todd Kurtz.
The Kart Raceway Cobras will be represented on Saturday by 16 year old Ben Morley and 17 year old Joe Jacobs. Morley has been voted the “Mr Cobra” Rider of the Year for 2010, and also turned more than a few heads in his Young Shield appearances with the Rockets, while Jacobs has already made his mark this season with a second place finish in the British U-18 Championship.
The field already includes defending Champion Craig Cook (Buxton), Best Pairs titlist Nicki Glanz (Plymouth) and Dudley Golden Hammer winner Simon Lambert (King’s Lynn). Also set to feature are former Newport and Exeter star Nick Simmons (Isle of Wight), Dudley’s Lee Smart – also voted Premier League Stoke’s Rider of the Year – and the fast-starting Adam Allott (Buxton) and Darren Mallett (King’s Lynn).
Pick a winner from that lot or any other dark horses, anyone? All in all, it looks a wide open field for the NLRC title.
Plus, don’t forget that admission prices are just £10 for adults, with accompanied children under the age of 12 admitted FREE.
Line-up for Saturday:
1. Nick Simmons (Isle of Wight), 2. Nicki Glanz (Plymouth), 3. Simon Lambert (King’s Lynn), 4. Lee Smart (Dudley), 5. Craig Cook (Buxton), 6. Mark Baseby (Bournemouth), 7. Jay Herne (Bournemouth), 8. Adam Allott (Buxton), 9. Joe Jacobs (Rye House), 10. Darren Mallett (King’s Lynn), 11. Danny Warwick (Isle of Wight), 12. Barrie Evans (Dudley), 13. Gary Irving (Scunthorpe), 14. Ben Morley (Rye House), 15. Kyle Newman (Newport), 16. James Cockle (Weymouth).
Reserves: Gary Cottham (Weymouth) and Steve Worrall (Scunthorpe)
Please note: in the event of Saturday’s meeting falling foul of inclement weather, the re-staging date is the following afternoon – Sunday the 31st at 2pm.
