Tickled me reading this in the SS:
Only 8 riders took part over 4 meetings over 2 days with 3 rider races scoring 2-1-0
There was one Bulgarian in the 8 (Milan Menev) who won the Open Champion of Romania meeting but he wasn't eligible for the title so the named Romanian champion, Andrei Popa, finished second.
That's not the best bit. He still had to win a run off against a veteran. Not just any old veteran, Marian Gheorhgh was 63
- Fortunately for Andrei, Marian got a bit excited in the run off and bit the dust saving the other 7 Romanians' blushes
