Just done a restart of a Win 10 Desktop PC (Win 7 to 10 upgrade) and it looked like a new PC when it started. Everything had been wiped (and I mean everything) so beware.
Fortunately I did another restart and thankfully everything reappeared.
The moral is, as it's always been, don't rely on technology, know what you've got/use, know your account details logins etc and back up everything regularly externally because it could all be lost in an instant.
