Today my local Tesco's was devoid of all freezers, fridges and anything to keep food cool, trains not running, schools closed!! This because of the heat , the similar things will happen when we get a cold spell. How do countries with similar conditions manage to cope without this disruption? I see also that Mr Whippy type ice creams are being v put at risk due to green lobby and diesel emissions

So we’ve had few days of hot weather. Isn’t this what we always complain we never get so pack the Speedo’s and depart to warmer climates. The ones that get me is the parents, it’s too hot to send my child to school at mid 30C - will keep them at home in the safe, cooler house. Then, school holidays they’re off on their holidays abroad where temperatures regularly reach 35 / 40C. Absolute planks!

I see also that Mr Whippy type ice creams are being v put at risk due to green lobby and diesel emissions That's the new world. Nothing works, everything is too much trouble and the future direction of travel is downwards. Over the last couple of years some people in power positions have experienced power & control and it's going to be hard to get them to let that go. Workers (or some of the more feckless) have been paid for doing jack and enjoyed it & discovered how easy it is now to swing the leg. Get used to it Rodders. Hot, cold, wet, windy, ice, leaves, the NHS, any old disease that affects a small percentage of the population and the cries for help, control & restricions will surface. It's grim stuff Bit of a tangent from the heatwave but the can do & service mentality (unless it's catering to minorities and lobbyists) seems to have left society. Sorry we're experiencing a high call volumes due to Covid & it could be 20 mins before you, far too often, get through to someone that you can't understand (and likewise) who can't help you.
