Spain, Portugal and Morocco have been named as the co-hosts, with the opening three matches taking place in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay. During the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Scotland, FIFA published the FIFA Climate Strategy and confirmed its pledge to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change − Sports for Climate Action Framework, which includes a commitment to reducing emissions by 50% by 2030 and reaching net zero by 2040*. * As a signatory to the UNFCCC Sports for Climate Action Framework, organisations are requested to commit to achieving specific climate goals of halving emissions by 2030 and aiming to achieve net zero by 2040.
