I was watching something about Wales & Kim Jong Drakeford's 20mph disaster. Can't recall who was narrating but they said, don't worry it'll be rolled out across England soon, especially if Herr Starmer gets in!
Interesting bit in the latest AEPG applications objection from Peterborough City Council, Local Highway Authority (LHA):
• Whilst the internal layout is indicative only at this stage, the proposed roads within the
development appear to be long straights with little speed restraint.
o The development must be designed to constrain speeds to 20mph on roads with
footways, or 10-15mph on shared-surfaces.
o Speed reduction must be achieved by horizontal alignment changes, rather than
‘retrofit’ solutions such as horizontal deflection in a straight road.
o There appear to be significant numbers of interconnecting vehicular routes,
where these should largely be severed and only provide connections for
pedestrians and cyclists
- so if you need a car or mobility issues then the AEPG/PCC concrete jungle probably isn't for you! Oundle road will be like the Tour de France
