One of the effects of the Pandemic was to severely effect the status of those previously financially comfortable, those I would suggest the natural Tory voters . No Budget has addressed this issue!!
Perhaps I am, being old fashioned but fail to see how or why the state should pay for childcare. IMO if you choose to have children it is your responsibility to care for them including financially.
The welfare state ie NHS was never intended to mean that the state was responsible for every aspect of life.

Have to say that I don't watch any news now and am totally disinterested in British Politics so don't know much detail on this. Had a quick look at the BBC key facts (mainly for ISA changes) but nothing else really stuck. Just the usual cack of our money being wasted in the wrong places by those who haven't got a clue, are totally incompetent and don't live in the real world anyway. And in the spirit of free speech UK, I'll not be pointing out what I dislike in those key facts. Assume that you mean child benefit? Childcare I take to mean something different. I've never taken an interest but am quite shocked by those salary limits and they certainly give credence to your argument. The thought that Sunak & Hunt know what it's like for real people outside their metropolitan bubble is comical. Added to that, we've got Labour, Starmer and Reeves to come in and save us

Some do but the majority are responsible. Having woken up to a power cut this morning, my thoughts went to: "A further £120m for a government fund that invests in green energy projects" More waste in the drive to make us all poorer, colder, less mobile and lighting via solar candles! - There is a reason that the Conservatives or at Labour will not offer a Net Zero Referendum It's no surprise therefore that Greencoat UK Wind (Investment trust, Sector Specialist: Infrastructure - Renewable Energy) appears regularly on Interactive Investor.
