The FIM Speedway Grand Prix series made its debut in Latvian capital city Riga in 2023 as Poland's Bartosz Zmarzlik, (with Lindgren, Vaculik making the top 3) took a giant stride towards the Speedway GP world title at a packed Bikernieki which is Latvia's leading motorsport venue.
Bikernieki has staged World Rallycross Championship action and now Speedway GP is bringing the noise.
The speedway circuit there was first constructed in 2014 and the venue has since staged a number of FIM events. But the 2023 FIM Latvian Speedway GP was by far the biggest as one of the sport's rising nations made a much-anticipated return to the Speedway GP calendar.

Lindgren usually gives you a good run for your money. As he did tonight. Lamberts gating was so bad, did well to make up such ground and qualify for the semis. Impossible to give the top riders a start when the tracks get so slick. |

Mikkel Michelsen will not appear on track this season after the Grand Prix in Riga. Official information was provided by the team of the Dane on his social media. In addition, it is already known that the 30-year-old has a serious shoulder injury, which requires a procedure.
Recall that Michelsen's accident occurred during the fourth race. Both the Dane and, participating in the whole incident, Bartosz Zmarzlik, lost control of the machines and hit the fence. The Pole quickly returned to the pits on his own. Michelsen left the track in the ambulance.
Now it is officially known that the 30-year-old has suffered a shoulder injury and his hand will be treated within the next 24 hours. In addition, Michelsen has a damaged shoulder bone, broken ankle (I guess? translation was strange) and a damaged foot.
