Gollob and Hampel refusing to use the new silencers. Just got this from my source Hope it's not Shovlar: "Looks like all Poles are banned from riding in the UK in 2011 after the Polish authorities said that Polish riders were not allowed to ride in any leagues using the new silencers. All this has come about because Gollob and Hampel are saying the silencers are so dangerous they could kill. Totally OTT and these guys are not prepared to work on them to improve the product. The FIM events use the new silencers so with the FIM back down or will riders who use them on a weekly basis get a good advantage over the riders in Poland? Just a thought.
Dubrucki is already missing from Sundays meeting for Poole at Eastbourne, having been dragged back home by his Polish club munder the excuse of practise. All but one EL club is affected, Birmingham especially so with KK their number one.
So what are the BSPA going to do about it? Find new riders or fall in line with Poland and drop the new silencers? By doing so it would be the death knell for Birmingham."c&p from bsf

Reports in Poland reveal that the Polish speedway authorities have ruled in favour of riders using the old type of silencer this season. Since their introduction the new type of quieter silencer has been a topic of debate between the FIM, National Authorities and International riders, World Champion Tomasz Gollob, World number two Jaroslaw Hampel along with Adrian Miedzinski and a host of club promotors visited the Polish speedway authorities today to resolve their issues with the new type of silencer. sportowefakty.pl reports that this season riders in the Polish leagues will revert back to the old type of silencer and that 'the Polish riders in foreign leagues will also be able to only use old equipment.'
There was an official statement to go with this but I couldn't understand it! source speedway365

The Polish Motor Union (PZM) have announced that they would be banning the new silencers, which motor-sports governing body FIM had already ruled must be used from 2011. The new silencers will be used in all FIM governed competitions which include the World Cup and Grand Prix series, whilst the other major leagues in Sweden, Denmark and Great Britain have already confirmed their intention to use the new silencers. skysports
Amazing really, imagine a country telling FIFA that they will not use their new ball Could be just the opportunity needed to knock Poland down a peg if the FIM have the gonads or inclination

Amazing really, imagine a country telling FIFA that they will not use their new ball Could be just the opportunity needed to knock Poland down a peg if the FIM have the gonads or inclination Looks like they have
World motor-sport governing body the FIM have confirmed that they will not allow old silencers to be introduced back into speedway. The issue of silencers has come to head in the last week as Poland have banned the use of the new equipment in their own league. This goes against the other major nations of Sweden, Denmark and Great Britain who have all followed FIM guidelines and introduced the new silencers for their 2011 seasons. The major FIM events - the World Cup and Grand Prix series - will also be run on the new silencers. World champions Poland have stated they will not compete in the World Cup, and that their Grand Prix stars - including world champion Tomasz Gollob and runner-up Jarek Hampel - may not compete if the FIM do not change their stance. But the FIM have now stated that the new silencers will be used in all their competitions. The FIM statement said: "There have been many rumors circulating during the last few weeks concerning the use of the FIM Homologated silencers in the track racing disciplines. "The introduction of the new silencers has now been successfully implemented in all World Championships including SGP and SWC and national Track Racing activities in all countries and leagues in Europe, except in Polish leagues where the situation is still unclear." The Director of the Track Racing Commission Roy Otto added: "I would like to confirm that the CCP Bureau has no intention in changing the rule of the new homologated silencers complying with the FIM Technical Regulations (Akrapovic, Provide 115, King 2010, Dep Pipes 2010, Dep Pipes T10 - 2010) and these silencers will be the only ones allowed to be used in the FIM Track Racing Championships, including the FIM Speedway Grand Prix and the FIM Speedway World Cup Series." The FIM has seemingly also warned Poland not stop their riders from competing as they have said they would. "In the interest of the sport the FIM will also take the necessary action to ensure that the riders' participation in other international championships is not prevented," the FIM statement concluded. skysports

The Polish governing body - the PZM - have threatened to block Polish riders from racing in any countries using new homologated silencers, but the row now looks like it will be resolved in the next few days.
The Federation International de Motocyclisme (FIM) confirmed it will ensure that Polish riders are allowed to participate in other international leagues and championships.
It is understood that there is another meeting planned between the FIM and the PZM this weekend, but it is expected that the situation may be resolved before then if it hasn't already!

The Polish Motor Union have come to agreement with the FIM over the use of new silencers in speedway. The PZM are still to use the old silencers in their league, but they have agreed that new silencers will be used elsewhere, and their riders can use them. That means that the Polish riders, including world champion Tomasz Gollob, is free to compete in the Grand Prix series. Poland, the team world champions, will also now defended their title. The president of the central committee, who run speedway in Poland, Piotr Szymanski confirmed riders would also now be free to compete in other leagues if they wanted. "If the riders agree to ride in foreign leagues, with the new silencers, then they will compete at their own risk," Szymanski told SportoweFakty. The news is a boost for many Elite League clubs who can now push ahead with the plans with up to seven Poles have contracts to ride in England - indeed of the ten clubs, only Wolves and King's Lynn were not affected by the row. skysports

Polish international Rune Holta believes British Elite League riders have gained an early-season advantage in being able to use the new-style silencers in anger on a regular basis.
The Norwegian-born star overcame two injured wrists to reach the semi-finals of the FIM Fogo European SGP at Leszno last Saturday with nine points. With some questioning whether Holta would even be fit to race, this was a fantastic start to the season for the 37-year-old.
But the Torun and Dackarna star admits his chances of success were not helped by the fact it was his first meeting on the new silencers, which are mandatory in FIM events and almost all domestic meetings around the world.
The Polish authorities have opted to run their fixtures on the old pipes, while Elite League riders have been competing regularly on the new ones since the middle of March.
So the Czestochowa-based star believes European SGP winner Nicki Pedersen, who races for Peterborough in the UK, went into the meeting with a big advantage over the likes of him, Gollob, Sayfutdinov and Hampel, who all sit out the Elite. "You have to test it out in a meeting. It’s not good enough just to go it alone." - Rune Holta
He said: “I need some more practise. This was my first meeting on the new silencer and it is different. That’s the problem here in Poland. We can’t do any practise meetings on them. It’s not legal.
“Of course that’s a huge advantage to the riders who race in Britain and you saw that with Nicki. He was outstanding because he had many meetings on them and the Poles haven’t had that. You have to test it out in a meeting. It’s not good enough just to go it alone.”
